I thought these forums served mainly as a medium to trash games, especially AoC. What's with the latest positive attitude I'm seeing in threads?
Has the world gone insane?

I see 3 reasons for this:
1. Those honesty disappointed with the horrible game launch have finally moved on with their lives.
2. The game is actually good these days. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's reasonably polished and without gaping content holes. I stayed through the rough times, so this actually feels like a sort of a reward for my loyalty [or stupidity, if you will].
3. Trolls have Darkfall to laugh at now, and that's a game delivering the 'haters' a lot more laughs than AoC ever could.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
I completely agree with you. The sum up of those 3 points explain the trends on the forums. Though there's still the occasional die hard hater here and there.
Spot on!
You pretty much nailed that one.

Or...it could be this game is flat-out defeated.
Most people are looking forward to the upcoming titles. Although some releases are far away there's still going to be some pretty nice launches between now and then. Most people (including a lot of the "re evaluation" players) have wrote AoC off as broken, unbalanced, buggy, or a horrible child community. Too bad 1.06 won't even be a consideration til Xmas--because by then it will be too little too late.
AoC isn't a viable game anymore, and other than viral marketing campaigns, Funcom really hasn't done enough to prevent this from happening. Heck at least WoW is putting up a fight (against the next gen mmorpgs) with a new 40 vs 40 map with cross realm PvP, vehicles, flight,..siege equipment (you know..ones that actually function)--what has AoC devs done? They repaired a broken game to the point that it is acceptable for launch over a year after launch? That's a joke. They should be adding new and exciting game play elements at this point in it's life..like realm vs realm PvP, or flying mounts, new Elite armour...something ...anything. (Although they did introduce a new way to exploit there customers by whoring them out to other website to find badges..lol)
At some point you'll have to accept that you were just paying for bata testing which was doomed from the get go due to a poorly ran company, with poor business ethics. Sieges never worked properly, crafting was always in some state of "broken," and an economy that has never functioned...this list still goes on.
/ignore AoC
You managed to lure one of the surviving haters out with this post. They are getting fewer, which is a good sign for AoC ( though, not surpisingly, hard-core bashers will have another explanation).

What does it mean AoC isn't viable anymore? The servers were shut down? Support was withdrawn? Dev team cut?
None of these things happened, did they? We have a good game with a steady player base [may be rising after the re-evaluation judging on my guild, but let's say steady for now] that still has a large team working on it and has updates and an expansion in the works. How is that "not viable"?
Go and play WoW if you like. The game holds no interest for me whatsoever, but I can see its appeal. You don't like AoC, we get it. Good for you. Now get over yourself and move on.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
Or, there is just so much you can tell before you get tired of spending energy explaining it again.
The core of the game engine is very unbalanced and kills the immersion of the gameplay. This was already spotted easly in the beta days. Nothing could fix AoC unless they redo everything, including the gfx engine.
But of course there are people who would like to play AoC. But let us be honest about it, we are living in year 2009, and most people demand these days that MMORPG is a bit less claustrophobic, got professional GM's and support. Something you should already know that Funcom failed about.
and despite all that ... you managed to pull one more 360. If everything was already explained than why have you done it again? Because you are a fail troll being lured in worst troll bait that could be imagined. Good job at wasting time at things you labeled as time wasters. That my friend is one uber fail and you should delete your account.

I did not explain it all again, just the basics. And I had some free energy left overs lately, so I come here and spread the truth. I will pray for you /peace
Ever stop to think for a moment what "no haters" means?
WoW has haters.
EQ2 has haters.
LotRO has haters.
Darkfall has tons of haters.
You know what the common thread is?
Not success. Although the first three there more than qualify as successful, Darkfall breaks that theory.
No, not success.
Interest.
Interest in a game brings fanbois and haters alike.
When there's little interest, what's to argue about?
So basically, few people are even interested in AoC anymore.
Congrats, you guys "won".
well every single thread here has haters in them, its just that recently theres been more than usual amounts of people with positive feedback.
a lot of people do avoid games because they hear they are bad, a lot of these players are not insanely skeptical of games, i think your seeing a few of these players comming off the trial with the attitude "this isnt so bad".
we all know how launch went, right now the game isnt terrible, not perfect, but its pretty damn fun....unless your a hardcore grinder/farmer, power leveler, or "i play my level 80s 10 hours a day" type of player.
casuals and ffa pvp fans have a nice game here.
i mean really...saying aoc doesnt have haters and therefore has no interest and is near death as a result is kind of a stretch...dont you think?

Well, i did add in some slight sarcasm, although admittedly not in as bold a style as I usually do. It was mainly aimed at those who somehow think less "haters" equals a better game.
Dead on. Cheers!
/shuffles in, raises hand.
I came back after a year, rolled on a PvP server and am having an ace time. No crashes, loads of stuff fiksed, loadsa people to play with or kill everywhere I've been. Not joined a guild yet, and grouped in all the dungeons I've wanted to. And I play 'off peak'.
Its a game. If you stop having fun, move on. Simple and effective.
FunCom doesnt have an obligation to entertain you, me or anyone for 20 hours a day..... forever. They provide a game as they see fit. You choose to pay and play or not.
Whinging about what it should or shouldn't be is almost the definition of 'pointless'.
Carry on.....
4. You can't flog a dead horse, but you can feel sorry for it.
General rule of thumb, do NOT base your desire to try a game solely on the whines and cries here. If they offer a free trial, no harm no foul, try it out and decide for yourself!!
And this marks the rebuilding of an MMO, there is not way but up from here. This community or in business terms the customer base is horrid. It ravishes any MMO that does not meet there precise standerds and whims. But most of these "customers" that input go to Walmart and buy lead based products because it is a super buy.
Classic troll post. You managed to write three paragraphs without actually divulging a single bit of information of what supposedly are the great problems with AoC.
Sure, AoC will not have the huge player base Funcom must have hoped for at launch. But it'll live on, and FC have proven with Anarchy Online they're very solid as to long-term support of their games. There's plenty of players to group and fight with on my server [frankly, I wouldn't mind if it was less crowded], the community is alive and actually quite pleasant by MMO standard... Sure, not many post here. But why should they? The play the game and post on the official forum. All that going here accomplishes is arguing with very poor trolls that are still hung up on the release 14 months ago. I personally consider little arguments like that fun, but I can see why not many people do.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
Actually to any game, my policy is to stay neutral. Positive and negative are both too biased. LOL
That's a great line! I'll have to remember that.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
Those that like the game are going to play it, those that don't have moved on. I know I hung around the last few months to see if 1.05 would make the game palatable for me and when it did not I pretty much lost interest in it entirely. Like the poster above I gave the game 3 chances and at first the game seemed great then after a few days it just left me bleh so why worry about it one way or the other now.
I miss DAoC
I am not nagative, nor positive. My post was not biased. It was made on a direct experience with Funcom last year. The support was so bad I got worried. If the support is got better now, it has very likely to do with fewer people needing support, than Funcom pulled their act together. Every professional MMORPG company in year 2009 need to take the gamers needs and desires seriously. Being wise after the event is what causes so much "dissatisfaction"..
Anyway, I wish Funcom the best luck even if they took my money. If you call me a hater, you dont know me. /peace

No need to get personal. I tried the veteran re-eval recently and came here to share my experiences.
Don't worry, like so many others, I will soon move on to other games. Aion seems promising but we'll see what happens with launch.
Not meaning to get personal mate, sorry if it came across that way, just wanted to point out what you were saying didn't make sense to me...
I like aion too, the worst thing about it for me is you can't open world pvp until level 25 though
Back on topic, I just checked the LOTRO forum - its first post of the month I found was on page 2, the first post of the month on the aoc forum was on page 8. I know it's not a totally scientific approach, but at least it seems that aoc is far from irrelevant going by forum activity... (not trying to attack LOTRO - I just picked a top tier mmo that I perceived to be doing quite well

I think the lack of posts in LOTRO forums is because there are no LOTRO haters. On the other hand there are a lot of AoC and especially Funcom haters. If you look at posts on this forum, about 50% of them are clearly from players who don't like the game and aren't afraid to say it. you would probably call those people "haters".
Also the recent trials and veteran re-evaluation have made a small spike in forum activity. I predict forum activity will drop again once veteran re-evaluations are over.
If you look at MMORPG.com AoC forum activity in a longer period of time, it has slowly but surely declined, about the same rate as subscription numbers.
..and if you look extra closely you will notice that a lot of these posts are made by veeeery fresh accounts that makes hundreds of posts in a couple of weeks time, and then suddenly when they are put in the troll cage where they belong; suddenly disappears from the face of the earth just to be replaced by a new one the following day. Also funny to notice how when theese accounts make their first post, it really shines through that they are following up on a discussion as if they were allready involved in it.. Strange is'nt it?
