So here we are 4? months after the EU launch and now in the middle of an NA launch and yet, no review.
We had to ask you to do the interview because no other well known legitimate gaming site's were given one. And now we have to ask you to finally do a review for the same reason.
Are you still waiting for Tasos to give you a free account so you can review it? Because he won't and we all know it.
So, do you plan to plunk down the $50 and finally give your site's opinion on Darkfall?
I realize you enjoy the forum traffic brought by fanbots and trolls fighting non-stop, but I think it's time you guys climb off the fence and let us all know your opinion of the game.
Of course, you'll risk Tasos having a shit fit if you don't give his baby a glowing review, but that's part of the job, right?
Edit: And I mean one of your real reviewers. Personally, I'd prefer Stradden, since he's known to love PvP, so noone can claim he's a "WoW sheep" or "carebear"  ( although the fanbots inevitably will, anyway ).

We had a sea of delays with this particular article, unfortunately.

    Things happen.

We also wanted to be sure we gave it a good long amount of play time before we did it, to avoid a repeat of some other well publicized disasters elsewhere.

Anyway, it took too long, I agree, but the article deadline is this week, so hopefully we will be able to run it next Thursday (a week and two days from now) on review day. If not next Thursday, than almost definitely the one after.

...and I assure you, we're well aware we're sitting on a mountain of traffic when we launch the review. Trust me, it's in our best interests as well, even if fur will fly no matter what score we give it. The review is coming.

Sea of delay? Was it due to the flying Dutchman?  Can't wait to read how this going to pan out...

    Very good to hear.

Hopefully both sides will be civil no matter how the score turns out.  I also hope that the reviewer might be able to spend a bit of time in responding to some of the more concise responses to the review.

Anyway... thanks for the response and I look forward to reading the review.

Oh, so you guys have already been playing and in the midst of making the review itself? Nice. Are you the reviewer Dana?

I am not the reviewer, but yes, the guy's been playing it for about a month now if my math is correct. Generally, with rare exceptions (for some smaller kid titles), we editorially insist that all reviewers have a minimum of three weeks with a product.

Whatever the outcome of the review, I hope that you guys have hired some more mods because this section of the forum is probably going to become a humongous flamefest.

Do I win a cookie if Tasos claims you have to play at least two months to qualify as a reviewer?

Yeah, well no matter what number it gets everyone will freak out. We've come to peace with that. Our reviewer has given it a fair shake and we're confident of his judgement. We'll stand by that. That's all we can do.

Meh, I've gotten kind of bored arguing in section.

I figure whatever you guys decide DF is worth, I'll go with it.

Unless of course it somehow gets a 10/10. Then I'll have to go with the aforementioned frontal lobotomy.

Anyone else willing to go on record and guess mmorpg.com's review score?

    I'll take the plunge...

    My guess is:  5.8

Given that they have scored some MMOs a fairly low score in the past...

    Ragnarok Online = 6.6

    SWG = 6.5   (This was the 5-year re-review)

    AoC = 6

In a week or two we can see how close we are to the actual score.

    I hear you Zorvan.

It seems like the hey-day is definitely past.  For those that have found a good game for them to play... good for them.  I have all but lost the flicker of hope I once had that this game would turn out like I hoped.

Oh well... there are some other MMOs on the horizon... and it is just a game after all.

Heck, I've been wanting to put a commercial grade popcorn machine and soda fountain in the game room for a while now.

Seems like a good time to go ahead and do it.

Agree..The game might get a ?/10 rating..But it will give MMORPG a 10/10 with the Shitstorm..

I am not sure if you should review this game. I mean, this game is an anomaly here on mmorpg.com: it has by far more forum posts than players.

Yeah, that was my reason for the 5.8 as well.

A random note... AoC was scored that back during the height of its angst. We're actually re-reviewing it this Thursday (won't spoil that).

And for the record, don't read too much into this. I do not know what the final score is going to be on DF yet ;)

Hopefully the person doing the review is basing it on post patch NA server client,  played UO pre-trammel, Darktide in AC1 or one of the Zek EQ servers, and will be giving the game the time a game that goes way beyond a theme park MMO deserves.   If your reviewer meets that criteria, I look forward to the review.   If not, well, I fear the game may not get the understanding and attention it deserves.

    Thank you -Other

Great.   Thank you.    Only other comment is that having played from beta to EU to NA, I find the experience on EU to be very different due to all the exploits that existed there that are much improved on the NA server.  Regardless, it sounds like we can look  forward to an informed review which should be refreshing regardless of rating.

Forgive me for saying this but "magical" post release patches never stop a game nose diving into the abyss and make it  much much better all at once.

Seriously dont think the patch is an issue. Lets not turn this into the next patch will get DF a better score. Its the core game which is in the spotlight. (And most people  know that the core game is naked CS knife fights in a bland lacklustre fantasy settings)
