I've been looking through games for a while now, but there is absolutely nothing that caught my interest. I thought DarkFall would be great but. . . It still stings, I'm not quite ready to talk about it.
So, I'm looking for a game. What gave you guys got for me? Here's what I'm looking for:
- Something really graphic, I'm looking for a real blood intensive game.
- Unique art. I want something that is so disgusting or weird that it will actually shock me.
- New ideas. Not just the same, "Your an Elf in the fairy castle of MagicLand, go kill the Black Orcs of Dungeon Land."
- I like the FPS idea, if it's not in the game, okay, but I would prefer a game with this mechanic.
That's pretty much it, I'm not that picky but I do want something that's intense, and bloody. I'll look at all the suggestions, thanks guys.

Closest you probably get is Age of Conan, unless you already tried that. Melee characters play pretty much as you expect and it does not have Elfs or Orcs. It also has unique art, but not sure it is violent enough...

Unfortunately, I have played Age of Conan. Didn't like it for some reason, any other suggestions?

I hate to say it, but I agree...AoC is basically the best fit based on what you describe. Ive preordered AION and it is a solid game...but very very asian. It may have a lot of what you are looking for...but its not released and thus has not truely stood the test. I dont want you to find yourself in another 'Darkfall' situation and out $49.50.

Age of Conan is the only game where you see blood constantly splattered over your screen, necks and limbs chopped off, people dying screaming as they are consumed by fire and so on . . .
Its semi FPS but not really for ranged attacks (which is a shame).
And it does not have any fantasy races.
Game recently had a complete overhaul with a new game system, all items remade and crafting improved. They offer a free 14 day return these days so you could try it out and see if its fun now.

I reached that stage like you, then I turned my attention to 4 years of great single player titles I had let me pass me by whilst I was jumping around MMO's and rediscovered why I'm a Pc gamer. MMO's have stopped offering something truly fresh and new many years ago and have been stuck in a loop. Trust me the best thing you can do is go buy all the single player Pc games in the genre you like that you've missed and rediscover entertaining gaming, not mind numbing repetitive rubbish.

It's old as hell, the graphics aren't the best and it's kinda buggy, but I recommend Necron 2. Fits basically all your criteria and is still pretty awesome.
Its not online or even came out yet, I believe it will be out in Nov. 2009, I'm definately getting Dragon Age, looks awesome imo. Thats if you can wait that long, good luck
Fallout 3 ...it may not be a mmo but it meets all that you're looking for in a game right now, OP. Plus, the world is immersive, it has a good story, and lots of bloody combat.
