Hi,
I have a quick question about getting hold/starting the game. A friend of mine recently started playing and now I want to join them. However, when they first started they paid how ever many Euro's (I forget the exact cost) to be able to download the client. What I am wondering is, can I just install the game of my machine using whatever files he downloaded without having to spend the money to be able to download the client myself?

the download is free. To open an account cost you to pay full price for a game you wont ever fisicly have and then a monthly fee.

Game can be downloaded for free of torrents, or from your friends file.
You will have to purchase an account to play it tho obviously, the price is the mmorpg standard.
How is he screwed? Because I can DL LOTRO and purchase it just the same as DF and play it...i am not screwed there and i'm not screwed in DF for doing the same thing. Or EVE for the last 5 years before hard copy.

no OP you cant play for free by coping your friends files. its not Starcraft 1.

I say to him, play your friends account for a week, if you like it, buy it, if not, dont.

perhaps you should try this in the Everquest forum max, they might take you seriously since they dont have our experience.
I see were arguing over wording of posts again. Nice deflection from the real state of the game however and its rather pricey uptake/maintenance. Now say how much does it cost to move from the European server to US one... tee hee hee !

how does not owning a physical game makes one screwed? I prefer to buy online because CD/DVDs get scratched and stop working. Or tend to get "misplaced" on their own. I own a number of titles without having a physical disc. Am I also screwed?

We all know what it costs matey. The topic is about buying the game and we all know the games somewhat higher cost. The wiser people all know its quality versus the cost. They also know a big old rip off when they see one. But hey lets not talk about that cause we might get both upset.
