I preordered the standard edition of Aion the other day from GameStop. I put down 5 dollars and they gave me the box containing the beta information. I didn't know much about the Collector's Edition at the time, so I didn't think to order it. However, upon reading, I realize I'd rather get the CE.
I can't exchange my 5 dollars toward the CE because GameStop is sold out. Amazon is also sold out. The only store left that seems to offer the CE for preorder is BestBuy. But looking at BestBuy's website, it is not clear whether or not BestBuy is offering the preorder bonuses. I'm also concerned about when I will receive the game if I order through BestBuy online. However, I'm willing to give up the five dollars I already spent to make sure I get the CE. So these are my questions:
1. Is BestBuy offering the preorder bonuses along with the CE (e.g., the metal case, the in-game items, and so on)?
2. Do you think I will get my copy on time for release?
3. What will happen now that I've already locked in the beta code into my account that I received for the standard edition? Does this mean I need to create a new account to get the full benefits of the CE?
If there is anything else I should know, please fill me in.

No matter WHO you buy the CE from; it will give you the bonus's because they come with the game itself. Not with the provider that you buy it from.
And if you do preorder it from best buy, you should get the cd key in your email, or some type of message.
When i pre ordered mine from EBgames, it gave me the key on my Shopping Cart page.
And anyways, youll get the key before the game is released, thus letting you download it, and it will give you the 2 days early access and what not.
It shouldnt be any different from if you ordered the CE from the actual store itself.

Get over it already.
I originally pre-ordered from Amazon, but after noticing a digital purchase from the NC site, I decided to buy that instead. Being a veteran of many MMO and other releases, I took note that the figurine and posters were obviously absent from the digital purchase. It's really interesting to see all the pre-release purchase teasers. From past experience, I'm wary of physical retail locations, and many online ones as well. Too bad I won't have an Aion figurine to gather dust with my WoW ones.
I pre-purchased the collectors edition too ..
But I wonder how I'll get my "special items" in game .. Do I get a code to write some where or what?..
And besides .. Will I get the "special items" on each char I create?.. Or only on my main?..
Help please :b

Do you advise that I get the digital copy, then? I'd rather have the physical copy, but are you saying that there might be problems trying to buy a physical copy?

If I were you, i would just purchase the CE from NCsoft. You've pre-ordered so you're already tagged with the pre-order (should show in your account) so you'll get the head start. Best buys preodering program is the worst of all of the shops. They get games out late, they frequently place pre-orders out on the shelves instead of holding them back for the pre-order purchasers. To be honest, the figurine is pretty ugly and doesnt do the games artwork justice, so if all you care about is in-game stuff stick the the NCsoft version of the CE
The CE in game item codes are being distributed in the actual box, or via NCsoft if you order through them.

It just seems like if I'm going to be spending over 50 bucks, I should get some physical items, lol.
If bestbuy runs out of CE or something, do you think they'll give me a rerun?
I had a similar issue... First I pre-ordered a regular copy from Amazon.com because I didnt know that the CE had so many extra things (Wings, Soundtrack, a Figure, and ingame items the regular doesnt have) , at that time the Collectors Edition was still available at Amazon.com but when I found out that the Collectors Edition had so many extras I wanted that one instead but Amazon.com was sold out.
So I Pre-Ordered from Gogamer.com because they said on their website that they email customers a pre-order key within 24 hours of ordering ... its been 3 days now and I still havent received a pre-order key from them and my order is still "processing" ... the only method of contacting them is email and they seem to give generic responses. When I asked gogamer customer support to process my order and email me a beta key because it had been 3 days they emailed me a message saying to check my "spam box" to make sure it wasnt in there (which it wasnt) so I had to email them back to ask them to send me the preorder key agian and hope I dont get another generic response. I read their stores reviews in resellerratings.com and they dont seem too favorable, it seems that they have a habbit of chargeing customers after they cancel the orders but I canceled it anyways because I got impatient and dont feel like they offer good customer service. They would probably even cancel my order later on and say that its "out of stock" like some retailers tend to do, leaveing me with fewer options when other places will definately be sold out of the collectors edition as well.
So now I canceled my order from Gogamer.com and ordered a collectors edition from Frys.com which is listed as one of the official sellers in Aion's site and still seems to have it in stock. They limit purchases to 1 per household and only seem to be selling it online, we will see how it goes with frys.com, but I have heard good reviews about their store so I hope for the best.
I was going to buy it from Newegg.com or Bestbuy.com but I think bestbuy.com will be first come, first served and anyone that comes after they run out of copys is out of luck. Newegg is my favorite online computer electronics retailer but they have limited information on their website, it doesnt even say if they email customers a preorder key to play in the beta so I asked their customer support and they asked me to ask the manufacturer... ah well I guess ill buy it from Fry's instead.
If by any chance I receive two collectors editions (the one from gogamer and from frys ill sell one on ebay the collectors edition have a habbit of selling easily for $100 online after their sold out.

I preordered from best buy and what they did was scan one of two bar codes on the case the beta code came in, one code for CE the other for the regular edition. A friend that works there said what they normally do is take all the orders for CE they get but if they run out of the CE before i get mine i will get a regular edition lol i dont know if that is how it will work or not but if you order from a best buy brick and mortar store i would advise you to get there early on 9/22.
I bought a CE from amazon, one from gamestop, and was going to buy one from bestbuy just in case they had unique distributer items.
However I just discovered you can get the CE from the NC store as a digital download, and it comes with a few extra in game items the box CE doesnt have all for $20 cheaper than the box edition.
If I had it to do over again I'd just have bought 3 digital downloads as Im really not into it for the soundtrack or game art.
Its only $10 cheaper on their site for the digital download but the physical DVD, the figure and the soundtrack alone are easily worth the $10 extra. What special items does the digital download Collectors Edition have that the boxed collectors editions dont have ?

I wonder if it would be better to order it from Frys.
