Couple Newb Questions

mxmissilemxmissile Member UncommonPosts: 275

Been away for years (long enough to be classified as a newb again).

Visited Atlas Park, the broadcast channel was insane, lots of people trying to get in an AE group. Do they farm the AE for drops? Or simply leveling XP?

I see gold sellers are still there, but they are advertising lvl 1-50 in 2 days. How do they accomplish this? If I could get to 50 in 2 months I would be happy. But at my current rate, WoW 2.0 will be out by then.  Anyway, what is the most effective method for lvl'ing up? AE? (what lvl is good to run AE missions?) Plain old missions? Story Arcs? Street grinding? Grouping?

The fastest way to level is to get sidekicked into a 46+ level team of 5-8 players, but that can be difficult  to PUG. Your best success with that will come through a Supergroup where your fellow group members don't mind having you tag along because they'll be expecting you to reciprocate in the future.

Generally, getting into a team that's a couple levels above you, set on Invincible, and has 5-8 members will level you fairly quickly yeah, you can farm some regular missions or AE missions, but that can get tedious. A large team with a high difficulty will level pretty quickly no matter what they're doing. Well, as long as they're not spending all their time kissing dirt.

Another little trick is to piggyback (leech) on a duplicate mission. I do this the most in the Hollows and Faultline, but it can happen anywhere. And it doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it's great!. Let's say you get the Frostfire mission. You don't have time for it and you log out. When you lgo back in, you see someone else trying to put together a Frostfire team. You join up and y'all complete the mission - the other guy's mission. You then get a box saying that you've completed a mission with similar objectives to one of yours - do you want to complete your mission as well? If you click Yes, then you get the XP and any drops specific to that mission. So if you can hook up with a group doing the same story arc that you're on, you can avoid some mission repetition.

    -------------
The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.

If you're looking to PL your way up, I can't help you there.

But if you're working Heroside and want to level through normal Gameplay, The Task Forces are a great way to breeze through the lower levels.

1 Run of Posi TF will get you from 10-16

1 Run of Synapse will usualy get you from 16-21

1-2 Runs of Sis Psyche will get you to 26

After that things start to slow down a bit. It would probably take about 3 Runs of Citedel to get you to 31, but you can also run the Terra Volta Respec, Moonfire, Ernesto Hess, and Katie Hill TF. (that'll run you to about 34) then you can do Manticore TF 1-2 times to get to 36.

After that you can get into the RWZ and run Lady Grey TF (Think they still allow you to SK 35'+ up to the min requirement for the TF). And you should be about ready to do the Imperious TF and the new 5th Colomn TF

If you hit dry spells, or want a change of pace, you can always pick up a few missions between the TFs till you can do a Safeguard misssion (plus you can get some decent Temp Powers).

Even with just a semi-casual (IE: 1-2 hours on weekays 5-6 on Sat and Sun) I was able to level a Peacebringer up to 47 that way in less then a month. I was with a group of frineds and we'd just run mabey 1/2 a TF a nite on the weekdays and then come back the next nite to finish it up.

Not looking to PL, I want to enjoy the ride... :-)  Can you solo Task Force missions? Hopefully i'll get some time to play tonight, and look for a friendly SG.

No, you cannot solo the task forces. They have a minimum number of players required to enter. There are a few very easy ones with no rewards that can be soloed but all the others require atleast 2 to 3 or more people.

And there lies one big problem: Getting into task forces can be a long and tedious process of trying to get a group for the task force you wish to do. Some of the task forces are run fairly frequently but others are almost never run. I completed most of the task forces in the game before I ended my subscription but there were several I never got to do just because I could never find a group willing to do them.

You can normally find a Chat Group for the server where they announce people running the TFs

    CHROME SUPPORT for Justice

    Freedom TFs for Freedom

They're my 2 hero servers and I can usauly find a group (or make one) to run the TF when I need it.

Freedom is more populated so will be easier to find
