I'm looking for a good pvp game

Kazzdude1Kazzdude1 Member UncommonPosts: 17

Hey guys. I've played most of the free MMO's that looked good and just cant seem to find what i'm looking for. I am looking for a game that has great player vs player. Most of the games i've played have pvp but you usually have to be highest level possible or you get murdered beyond recognition. Can anybody point me out a game that is good with pvp and doesnt take as long to level up to fight? I'd like to find one that's either free or doesnt cost much. I dont want a WoW price (50 bucks for the game then 15 a month) . If you have any games list them. I appreciate it.

List of games played

Runescape

Perfect world

Guild Wars

Requiem

Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion

Get ready for lots of players suggesting EVE. There really is buggerall in the way of good pvp mmos so I'm afraid your choices are mostly limited to pve games with tacked on pvp as an after thought. Come back in a few years and you might have a little bit more choice

Mortal Online is coming out.  Pre-order is already available.  That is if ya like FFA PvP.

Only true PVP game around today is EVE, imo.

AoC and WAR might be an option too, they both have something specific and appealing. AoC got very good combat system, unfortunately the game is very class imbalanced and bugged.
WAR is great if you enjoy arena style PVP.

I will probably get shilled for this but I suggest you try WAR's 10 day trial.

It's casual and it's PvP from level 1. As soon as you create a char you can PvP via instanced scenarios (just press the button by the minimap) and by level 6 you'll probably stumble on your first open PvP zone. Each level bracket has a bolster bonus so even if you enter the 1-11 scenario as a rank 1 player your base stats get bolstered to 8. The same applies to open PvP zones as well. In addition there are no death penalties and ganking to think of and the game is heavily team oriented - it pays off to help your team win rather than just rack up the kills.

The first 2 tiers (level brackets, out of 4) are really fun, especially because you can level exclusively through PvP if you wish. However the game lets down a bit after that tho it can be enjoyable if you approach it as casual fun and are more into PvP-ing for its own sake rather than trying to achieve some "endgame". Open RvR can be enjoyable even at T3 and T4 if you pay attention to what's happening in the world at large - tho this probably depends on the server you choose. On Karak Norn EU where I play we regularly have multiple warbands (raids) coordinating all across the server. And yes, there is plenty of open PvP from the very beginning - the game did have problems at launch with players flocking to scenarios leaving the open PvP empty but for the past 6+ months the rewards in open PvP are such that instanced scenarios are just one more mode of play and there is always someone to kill in open world.

And now let the inevitable hate flow.

Actually I suspect a lot of people do want a "decent & well thought out" pvp system in an mmo (not the crap we have seen so far in many games) which is why there is always so much debate about it.....and also why a number of upcoming mmos are being designed with pvp in mind from the very beginning. People should have access to more variety but despite the number of mmos available we dont actually have that yet oddly enough. Hopefully if these upcoming games are actually good then we will have a decent selection of both pve and pvp gameplay. These are online games afterall.

However there are a lot of people that think they know everything simply because they spend lots of time in these forums. They may also give you their "credentials" in the form of a long list of mmos they have played to prove to you how knowledgeable they are. They will pull imaginary percentages out of thin air and will state daft things like 1% of the gaming population likes pvp. When exactly did every single individual mmo player submit there personal preferences into a database where this percentage could be plucked from? These people share a collection of these "factual nuggets", such as "pvp fans are a vocal minority", "pvp doesnt belong in the mmo genre and is only suitable for fps games" and of course the good old classic "the badly implemented pvp I have experienced sucks in all the games I have played in the past so therefore pvp is bad". Oh and apparently any player who enjoys fighting other players is a mad axe weilding psychopathic teenager in real life who is angry at the world and drinks the blood of virgins. In contrast a person who likes killing computer controlled mobs is decent, respectful of others, well-mannered and highly educated.

These people are "in the know" and dont you forget it

Depends how carebear you want it...

WAR/WOW for light pvp, then EQ2 for middle ground..... Darkfall or EVE at the end i guess.

I am a big fan of WAR for its pvp and rvr but you said something free and you havent played?

try maybe Runes of Magic (RoM)

its completely free with an item shop if you want to tweek out but there is alot of people that dont so its kind of fun at the high lvl.

its full open pvp on the pvp server for the most part after lvl 10 with body looting for the hardcore.

The only problem with FPS games is they don't have the character building that draws so many people the the MMORPG genre.

Mortal Online and Fallen Earth are gonna merge the two genres and hopefully finally release a PvP game that appeases the masses.

    Aion-big fights,castles

    Darkfall-FPS

    Mortal online-FPS

    EVE-spaceships

I think eve has a trial you can try. Aion preorder and get beta key, Darkfall go by. MO preorder play now.

Honestly, the reason you can't find a game that fits is probably because the free-to-play games all lack quality in any form. You will have to pay to play to get any decent pvp but I suggest waiting until Mortal Online (it really is all it's cracked up to be) or preorder it. You honestly will never find a free-to-play game that will satisfy you once you've played a good pay-to-play game (except Mabinogi which doesn't have good pvp  but is an excellent free-to-play cash shop game).

I see you have GW in your list, maybe you had trashed it because the "long time to reach max level".

PVP-wise, GW has very good mechanics (technically, it is instanced arena (RA, TA) and instanced play with objectives (GVG, HA, AB) and it is based entirely on player skill and not by wearing some ultra-rare 'leet' armor.

GW comes in three different campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) and Prophecies was the one where you have most hard time to max level of your PVE PC. Factions is more fast to max, Nightfall even fastest. heh.

If you just wanna pvp only, GW will let you able to create a PvP-only character, already lv20 and ready to battle. If you don't wanna unlock skills by PvE play, you can purchase a one time PvP unlock.

Bucket-wise, it is pay once, play forever, not a bad deal. Maybe you can reconsider it.

    Cheers^^

    Darkfall or EvE.

Why Darkfall? Where is the death penatly? Losing something that has no value is not really a loss...

Yes please, go on. So far what I can read is big 'IF' only.

I was always curious how you can make meaningful PVP system with full loot and gear for appearance mostly.

No, I am not trolling. Just big chunk of sarcasm there.

Still, can you elaborate how meaningfull death penatly Darkfall has got?

Go play Lineage 2 on a Private server, and then wait for Aion to come out in September :)
