thats only ever happen once i think that was fixed in a patch or people arent stupid enough to do it cause the ship will be returned to the last owner so heh

Maybe I'm just a complete and utter fanboy, but it seems to me that the majority of people that flame the game don't actually play it. There is a serious amount of fun to be had in-game.

Yeah, everything I've heard about darkfall i love, sure the graphics are not great, but i never cared about graphics anyway.
I just want to be in these giant battles, I've been waiting for a game like this for years.
I might wait until mortal online is released and read some reviews.. See what peoples opinion is about that.
You can buy the game alright chances are you will never set foot on a boat let alone own one, the ship looks good I will give you that on its own, put it on the DFO context and its just useless, requires a really powerfull guild of effort to build, its nearly useless as there is not enough boats around to have naval battles, so no you cant be a captain of a ship and be a pirate and no you wont ever have that ship you can however have that shit raft that everyone has around, even if you joined the mercs you probably still wouldnt set foot on that ship.
Bottom line, yes it is nice, but it just doesnt do anything and its just a feature for the biggest guilds to make this video and then use it with their officers when they are bored to sink their other ships.
TBH if your short on cash then sure, dont risk it for now, but after all the bashing the game is pretty solid and it looks pretty great. screenshots dont seem to favor DF in the least. There is a lot of fun to be had, especialy with friends. due to all the wasted money and time on ultimately crap mmos the last few years, I havnt been recommending games to friend at all. DF has broken that rule, I cant help but talk about it with them and they are going to pick it up if it holds out a few more weeks
Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man!

Manwar is the top boat and the top boat should take several months using a large guild to build. Its what make the difference between a 80 hour game and an infinite hour game.
that said, given resource and economic changes of which I do not know the details my understanding is that boats will be easier to get.
(p.s. Graphics in game with shadows on is better than just about 99% of the videos and screenshots I have seen)

Well, I only made it to the placing of the "boat"/ship. Looked good enough.
For once I wish that the author of the video had had over-layed the game sound with the typical overbearing music.
It sounded as if Olivia Munn had walked in wearing her Princess Leia slave costume, carrying a six-pack of Mountain Dew and a case of Hot Pockets.

The problem with VG boats is that while they look pretty they aren't worth a damn, they don't do anything. They aren't even worthwhile as travel with the riftway system.
Boats in darkfall are an important means of traveling from one side of the map to the other. There's no fast travel system and it's a dangerous world.
That man o war can also level a castle if left uncontested on the sea, so if you have enough people to actually man all the guns then it will be a terrorizing force against guild cities based on the coast.

didn’t watch the full video so I am not sure if they showed the boat destroying a city but I have seen some videos of larger boats completely decimating a city with cannon fire. THAT is why people buy larger boats

Well, that's not exactly true, since there are some locations where a boat is a nice commodity. They exist in VG because they make sense in the environment there. I do acknowledge that boats in a world with no fast travel are more valuable than in a world with them, though.

I second this statement. More than anything this game is such a refreshing breath of fresh air in genre overflowing with mediocre WOW clones.
On topic, I forget who said it here that Darkfall was like Eve Online with swords and here ladies and gentlemen is Darkfall's TITAN. Actually it's better than a Titan in EVE because your whole alliance can ride it and use all the cannons. Now imagine if there were a bindstone on the ship.............

Any one who likes DFO is called a fanboy here. This video is a mere taste of what DFO contains and it has to be obvious to any considering this game, when seeing videos like this, how grossly inexperienced so many of the negative DFO forum dwellers here are.

I think some of that is caused by a lot of the fallacies some of the fanbots spew on this forum. Not saying all, mind you. Interesting video, though. Actually, one of the better ones I have seen.
