Can i play EQ2 w/ this crap system ?

I have a
1.6 Ghz Processor
512MB of RAM  (Problem #1)
64MB nVidia GeForce 2 MX graphics card
56k Dial-up modem (Problem #2)

With this system is EQ2 even worth playing with Graphics and things turned all the way down ?

technicaly, you meet minimum system requirements.

you may be able to squeeze by on the lowest setting, just dont expect to be wowed by the graphics. Alot of textures are left out.

Thanx for replying. Well i didnt expect to be on anything better than the lowest, but i just need to get a new computer. I just dont want to lag the whole time and end up wasting my $50. And i dont care much for graphics i'm more thrilled with gameplay.

Personally, i prefer EQ2 to WoW but if you are set on playing one of the newer mmo's, you will probably get a better experience with WoW. Both are realy fun games and are worth trying out when you are able to get a new comp. WoW has far less steep requirements.

    good luck!

Geforce MX video cards cannot be used to run the game. You need to update your video card first, then your ram. If you change your card to a 5200, only 60 or so bucks, you can play on low settings. Another stick of 512 ram is like 60-120 depending on the CAS Latency.

Yea like 9216544 said, you can't use MX cards for EQ2 because they aren't supported.

But 9216544 doesn't have to worry about that, he'll be running a 6600 GT. ::::10::

Speaking of that 6600, are you going to go with the nForce 4 and SLI that card with another 6600?

I used a GeForce MX 5200 in the beta, you simply need a direct X9 card and 5200+ MX will support it.

Aye, definitely upgrade the graphics first, RAM second. Processor should be fine since DX9 offloads so much to the video core, as far as I remember.

  • it is very strict about the requirements

hehe do upgrade card to 5200+ and up and get dsl cable or higher. you will be able to have alot more flexiblity with wow than eq2 on graphics part as said will be able to paly both if ya want one wow with more options and shti enabled with out comp cryin for mercy lol. do defenlty get dsl cable etc. and really recomend gettin a 9700 9800 pro or 5900xt for braod sprectum for gamesobvioulsy and give perfromance for all around versatility on performance.

the Geforce MX cards are not supported. It even says that on the EQ 2 website.  You wont be able to run the game without a serious upgrade from the Geforce 2.

Dial  up i knwo people who play with it, the rest of yoru system should be able to handle it but the Card no, you'll never even push the log in screen without shader ability.

there is no such thing as a geforce 5200 MX, its geforce FX 5200... and it says right on the official website that an MX card will not work because they do not support vertex and pixel shaders.

You wont be able to play eq2.

With a Gf 5200 fx you will tho but still laggy as hell. you will probably need to reboot your system often too like after zoning 4 or 5 times since youre too low on Ram.

MY advice would be. Get 2Gb Ram cheap and an ATI 9200 ( wich is cheap ).

With that you would be able to run the game wihtout lag in minimum settings, maybe pushing render distance a bit and graphics bias a bit to max too.

Good luck. think twice on upgrading your pc just for eq2 tho... game is currently down for 12 hrs and looks like it will stay down for another 12hrs or the whole weekend. Thi is SOE at his best lol bunch of crappy software programmers.
