These are the 2 beta events before us.

    Beta Schedule

    * Closed Beta Event #5 July 31-August 3 Focus: Elyos and Asmodian levels 1-30

    * Closed Beta Event #6 August 14-August 17 Focus: TBD

And you can only play Beta during those times. And then it will be release sometime in Sept i think.

Yah can only play during the CB weekends but its really just a preview to hype the NA/EU launch as they are not even using 1.5 with these CB events (the release will be 1.5)  But its WELL worth the 8$ it cost to get a key online and hey if you dont like it all you spent was 8$ not 50$.   Gaming sites speculate there will be an open beta phase in early september and a release on the 22nd ish but no one knows for sure on the open beta part but both china and japan had open betas so i would assume the NA/EU launch would get one to.

$8?  Never heard that before.  I pre-ordered (unfortunately through steam) and paid the full price for the game.  Huh, wish I had known about this $8 thing before. I'd have done that instead.

Not that I regret getting the game, just saying.

I only paid $5 to reserve the game and get into beta... Gamestop for the win!

just a clarification though, when you pre-order they will give you a beta key. You must have this beta key to play in the beta. Some retailers give you the key on the spot and some will email you the key (It's a series of letters and numbers you type into your NCSOft account the key is).

Try to preorder from someone you trust and who can get you the key quickly otherwise you may find they sent it out too late and you won't be able to play.

You can still download and install the game so go ahead and do so if you pre-order and the key is on its way as downloads can be a long time.

Americans have to pay money to preorder a  game and get the code.... most amusing.

preordered, code given, no actual binding to buy the game. Luckily i'm not going to cancel, but i have the option to do so until release.

Game stop will no longer alow you to cancel a pre order once the beta key is sent out.

I personally pre ordered threw the nc soft store, it was a digital purchase, i will not receive a box in the mail, i simply paid via pay pal, created an account on their web site and dowloaded the client, once the beta opened i had full access, as im sure i will once live hits and i can start my head start (sept 20th due to pre ordering)

It is a 100% totally refundable $5.00 pre-order fee though. So even if I choose not to play this game, I can get my money back. If I do stay, I get the $5 bucks off the total price.. You don't lose either way :)

EDIT : I just read ^^ this guys post and thats not true. I got my pre-order from Gamestop * in store*. They told me if I didnt like the game, I wasnt bound to buy the game-- just bring my reciept back to the store to get my $5 back.

Well some places are running out or already ran out of beta keys.  Make sure to double check where you buy it, and ask if you get the beta code before you actually order.  If you don't care about beta code, then all is well.
