I would give a shot to almost any game that deviates from standard high fantasy settings. I prefer darker scifi themes, like cyberbunk and immersion like in Blade Runner, but not a big fan of post-apocalyptic ones (or perhaps just tried of it).
Also a setting similar to Deus Ex might work pretty well for an MMO.

I agree on WoT and it is being made by Red eagle games with an association with EA games. Wheel of Time has such a huge world with so much lore it has the potential to translate very well into a MMO. There is a WoT mud that has quite a big following which they will likely take quite a bit from.
WoT is simpkly the most detailed fantasy series with the largest following. i can't wait to see what the MMO becomes.
I think a MMO set like the naruto universe. It would work perfectly. Different Villages, some allied and some enemy, Plenty of places to quest, the ability to move up ranks as well as levels. Ranks being effected by missions and tests. Plenty of dungeon content could be created.
I dont know if id want it actually set IN the naruto universe, or that it has to be ninjas that people are playing. I think the basic set up of that universe would serve as a awesome playground. ^.^
Well I would like to see MechWarrior made into an MMO, now I apologize if someone has already placed this as an idea, but Im not going to troll through all the pages to find out lol. The MechWarrior universe is one of the richest around and has been since it began in the mid to late 80's.
Done correctly and started in the pre clan era, it would draw a huge crowd, I mean cmon, who dosent like giant robot games?!?!?!

Berserk would make a pretty interesting setting for a dark fantasy MMO (meaning Manga which actually expands this setting a lot):

Necromunda could be a good setting for a PvP focused game (Gang vs. Gang):
