So my friend is going to start playing WoW, and I'm going to return so I can play with him... I want to know what are some of the duos that work very well together for levelling?
Thanks in advance

I've done the same thing before. With one friend we level'd Warlocks together and another we level hunters together. It was great with us both having pets, kind of gave us a larger 'group' even though it was the two of us. Pets/Demons can tank for you while you DPS. Another plus to playing the same class was that we both had the exact same quests to complete.
2 druids
Mage/Priest used to be pretty fast at lvlin together.Just aoe crap down .
2 druids could be fun, one to tank and one to heal. The same could be done with a pair of Pallys.... I miss my pally *sniff*
^ this
2 pallies.

Myself and friend duo'ed as a BM hunter (me) and him a balance Druid, it was like having 3 of us, as BM pet held enough aggro and druid didin't spend all the time healing. Use gorilla to tank several mobs, was good fun.
Honestly, I'd just roll two DPS classes. Being the healer in a duo is pretty boring Especially in a tank+healer combo.
Of course, if you're thinking of grouping up to full and dungeon running all the time, it's quite the opposite: Then rolling a tank and a healer is good.
^^ this.
I would definitely say have 2 DPS specs and not have a healer, but I WOULD recommend one of the class be able to heal to reduce downtime. Also, look at the synergies.
A frost mage and a moonkin druid are great together. The frost mage gets 5% crit from the druid, and the druid gets replenishment from the mage. A moonkin also has enough armor to handle getting hit a few times.
Another would be a arms warrior and a feral druid. Again, good synergies and very fast kills.
From 70-80 myself and a friend were Holy Pally and Prot pally, he said Holy wasn't boring(With sor and ranged judgements for tags - granted that's not a big deal now I guess), and there wasn't a quest we couldn't do, steamrolled everything.
2 paladins.
One with specced Ret/Tank and the other speced Ret/Healer.
2 DPS for leveling and then tank healer combo for grouping, just need dps party members.

It depends how you define best duo. I would assume you mean efficiency in levelling? I would most definitely go for Pally+mage for AOE purposes. Protection Pally provides very good AOE aggro and damge while Mage is the best AOE class in the game. this duo is both safe and efficient.
I have to second the druid rogue combo. My druid is 40, me and a rogue were in SM over the weekend and were doing great. No we didn't solo the whole thing, but definiately enought to see the advantages of a tank, healer / dps combo.
So much so that I'm trying to talk my brother into making one and we'll level them together.

I leveled a paladin together with my warrior room mate back during vanila. Did the same thing when we rerolled wotlk. Its still an amazing leveling combo imo since if you ever want to run an instance while leveling up, all you'll need to find is dps. The only downside to doing pairs of classes that use exactly the same gear is exactly that.. if both of you want item x from a place, you'll have to run it a bare minimum two times.
ATM I guess the most convenient combos would probably be priest/druid/shaman + war/paladin/druid. Keep the gear cross over to a minumum while being able to fulfill a healing and tanking role with the duo will carry the most benefit imo.
2 Hunters.
A) I found Hunter to be the most fun to level. You will go through ANY quest/npc like its nothing. C) If either of you quit between 1-80 you still have the easiest class to level solo.
Only 1 of you will need a Tenancity pet(tank). While the other can have a cunning or ferocity to add to dps. Whoever has the tanking pet spec BM. Which leaves person 2 to spec DPS either in Survival or Marks. Either way I had a blast leveling my Hunter. ALOT more fun then Priest(which I found solo to be the toughest) and more fun then Paladin which is easy leveling but boring.
I did this a long while back as a druid with my partner being a paladin. Back before outdoor Elite monster groups (like say, the trolls up in the Hinterlands mountain or any of the dragonkin in the game) were nerfed to normal status.
The pair of us completed everything in vanilla pre BC, including the harder group quests Plaguelands and Silithus. The only thing that might have really helped out was if we were both druids, so we could have stealthed to objectives together.
We both focused on solo'ing DPS gear and carried quest gained trash healing gear in our bags for special points in leveling.
wife and i lvld to 60 with a hunter and a druid... it was fun, but, at 60 she lvld up a druid and we had a feral/resto and a doomkin and it was quite 'the beats'
"We aren't going to ... Period. End of statement."
ya. ok. whatever.
but what do i know, i'm only a vanbois i'm told.
