i like how you forgot to add that they are giving away 5 ati 4890 video cards, and 10 signed posters i think it is, as prizes for just helping with a stress test. plus, it's not like your paying a monthly fee to stress test their systems like so many other mmos. oh, and they give you 1500 points to spend during it as well..... where the hell is the problem??? you act as if their mortal online asking people to buy a full game, long before the beta is complete, or darkfall for well being crap.
Except of course DDO is three years old and many of the people in beta have been paying 15 a month for 3 years to test a game to this day. So everything you said fails to apply to DDO. Have a nice day.
ddo might be three years old, but they are stress testing new servers.... so the people who have been playing, for three years, haven't been paying to test a game, they've been playing a full release. so, enlighten me as to how everything i said fails to apply to ddo. they are giving away video cards and posters, 1500 points for being in beta, and you are stress testing their new hardware.... hmm... seems to apply very nicely to me...
You said its not like you are paying to stress test. But people are paying to stress test. You said you are not paying a monthly fee like other games but people are. See your mistakes yet?
no, people aren't paying to stress test. they have an account, they are paying for their account, they can stress test on the beta server if they want, or, they can play the game they have been paying for, and not worry about the stress test, since it applies only to the beta server. i can't play on the main server with my account, i can only play the beta client, as thats what i'm in. you generally seemed to be mad, at the least despicable act a mmo company has ever made. do you see "your" mistakes yet?
I am not mad at all. You are the one reacting to the OP and me like someone on the edge of sanity. Your reaction to the post was laughable at best. I am done humoring you. These changes to DDO effect the people who have played for three years and in many ways negatively, but explainign that to you would take too long and not worth it.
haha, wow, ok. someone disagrees with you, and they lack sanity... nice, always good to see when you can't actually make an argument, you sling insults. sure it may effect some people negatively, not as bad as turbine shutting down the servers because they don't view the game as a viable source of income or something. they could have just NCsoft'ed it, but they decided to try something else. *sigh* i'm not in the mood to trade insults with children.
Yet you felt the need to start hurling insults from the first post you made. Hmmm I seem to doubt your last statement. I wonder why?
hahaha, ok, can someone here please point out any insult i made, anywhere in this forum? i'm generally confused by your statement here, as i went back, and checked, and no, i do not see any insults from me, in this entire conversation. you must be bored today?
You are right, I mixed you up with another poster. I appologize for that.
There have been 2 stress tests since I got into the beta. I have also just received an email for a 3rd stress test. Yes, they asked that you buy from the store, but as someone already pointed out, they did hand out free points. They also discounted items down to 5 points. During the stress tests for the store they would announce a certain time that they wanted everyone to go into the store and buy an item. Also, to keep repeating it as many time as they could / wanted to. So if you wanted to buy 3 items, you should buy them one at a time so they are three transactions. It only lasted a few minutes and absolutely no one was forced to buy. It was simply to get as many people as possible to complete a transaction at the same time to see how the servers handle it. You know, a test, to stress the servers. That was the stress test. Then they had random spawns pop in the town and hams falling from the sky. Just for fun. They were also asking trivia questions and giving away stuff or points (not sure which) to the winners. I can understand some people that have been paying the subscription until now are upset. But they aren't looking at the limitations on the free accounts. They don't have all access and the total freedom that the subscribers do.
Its not the free accounts really that have people mad. It is the Turbine lies for three years that cause the anger.

apology accept no worries, i agree with it upsetting a few or many of the subscribers, but you can at least look at it as now it will be free, if you don't want to pay for it, and just deal with the limitations

When I go back I will go back to paying for it. I understand their reasons for this and support it in the hopes it leads to a better game overall. I just dislike Turbines business practices.
Turbine is giving people who are beta testing their game an offer (no you dont have to) to buy Turbine Points cheaper that you can use after DDO:EU is released (and win some prices) and Roku is complaining... I guess everyone can see now that this guy is no point arguing with.
See you in DDO:EU
If WoW = The Beatles and WAR = Led Zeppelin Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
HAHA this is just great! I see his point. It was the point I was trying to make before the trolls, fanbois, and big bad forums warriors jumped in... not that I didn't expect it.
I'll try again, and will elaborate further. Beta testers are god's gift to MMO developers. It gives them a chance to test their product prior to release, aquire feedback, advertise, and a whole lot more without having to pay a wage for that service. Given, a lot of people take betta testing as a chance to play the game for free. And people like myself actualy try to help them out and improve their game.
When the company conducting the test then steps forward and asks the testers to pay them to test their product, it rubs me the wrong way. I've seen people doing beta testing take it very seriously and devote a lot of effort to helping this company make their game better... The MMO company should be paying them! To turn around and ask these people for money?
Let's forget Turbine's track record. Lets put a pin in all the delays, lies, and other BS they have done to the playerbase of DDO. Let's ignore the fact the game has had zero advertising since release. Let's look past that players have been stuck with the same content for so long... Any MMO that asks it's testers for money has such questionable moral standing that I will have no part of it. I find this issue to be futher compounded when those testers have already endured the above conditions.
Flame away mmorpg.com forum warriors. I won't be posting here again.
Hey, that actually sounds nice! I am a God gift to developers : ). Yes, I'd like if they paid me, but no beta tester in the world of MMO games is or was paid for anything. Turbine is giving substantial discounts, but won't pay me as well.
I have no problem with that! I've bought 1 month DDO US subscription to get into beta, though I knew I was risking - I had no guarantee I will get in it. But after PMing one of the techs I got my key. So not only could I play in live DDO, but also in beta of new version with new content! Whoah, I was really exited. Some time later my sub expired, so I am able to test Free to Play/Microtransaction mode, and I'm happy about it as well. I've sent dozens of Bug Tickets and suggestions on beta forums, even submited a problem with new guild rank system directly to +Phax via game chat, and it was worked on since then.
I have the feeling of voluntarily participating in creating a game and best possible enviroment for a new breed of players. I want to welcome them in new DDO like they were my friends, new party members, guildies, etc.
And so far it's great, nice people overall, most of them are exited about this Eberron Unlimited thing, frequently I see people on General saying it was a great idea. I have the feeling of satisfaction. Oh yes, I do . I was having a great fun during my questing in beta, and socializing with people. That was more rewarding in than last months in old DDO, European version, so that's fair I've paid for it.

Sarr there should have been no risk at all. Everyone with a paid US account was automatically given a beta key.

That was only very recently, I thought. Before this past week, players got into Beta through one manner of invite or another (at least, that was how I got into the Beta). I had two accounts. One received the invite back at the end of last month, and one did not get it until two weeks ago.

All players with a paid account were to get invites automatically according to Turbgine on the day they made the announcement. Though some people seemed to have to jump through hoops to get it.

Here we go again
Quoted from the first the first announcement on 6th June:
"All of our currently active subscribers in North America will get "priority access," meaning that you will be pushed ahead in the line to get into the beta server. "
We're pleased to announce that the DDO Unlimited Beta is now open to all players with active DDO subscriptions. If you have a paid DDO account in good standing you are no longer required to have a VIP key to access the Lamannia server or post on the beta forums! Your account will convert to VIP when DDO Unlimited launches. Enjoy the rest of the beta, and thanks for playing DDO! "

but Im sure you can find a way to argue about this...
In your first link you need to scroll down and read more. It clearly says that "priority access" means you get pushed to the top of the queue for logging into the beta server. As far as I can see people who had active subs on 6/6/2009 were all invited to the beta and new invitees were accepted but VIPS had priority access to the server since beta is on one server.
Now there were a ton of issues with Turbine in getting them out but players who were paid up on that date did not have to apply for the beta. You can find the posts in the DDO:EU area on page 3 or 4 some people getting keys that were already in use and others not getting theirs emailed to them. Sarr may not have qualified for that if he joined after the announcement though and would have had to apply.
I am not arguing with you for the sake of arguing, maybe you read priority access differently then I do in that statement. It does sound like in one place she means access to the beta itself but later she clears that up by stating it is access to the beta queue for the server.

Guess I was right!
But Im not going to bother since I know what will happen... Just read the discussion again and maybe you will understand.
If WoW = The Beatles and WAR = Led Zeppelin Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
The store is part of the new game. They do need to stress test it even if it seems poorly done. Maybe the best way would be dump a load of points on people and let them buy some items with no real cash.
913 of forum trolling obviously since the post before yours just stated clearly that they did give points.... sigh
You are missing the point. Here I will type it slowly. Everytime they stress test they should give more points so peoplke who have spent them do not have to spend money in beta. Is that clear enough for you? I was not trolling, but you clearly seem to be.
I got some extra points besides the initial ones for being an active player in the beta.

Yeah, so that would be the EOT. They regularly gave out 1000 Turbine points to active or all beta participants.

No you were wrong. My brother had anctive sub on 6/6/2009 he applied for nothing and got in the beta just like his entire guild. You are the one misreading. They clearly state that Priority Access means front of the line for the server, not to get a beta key but actual access to the server. Your understanding is wrong. But of course you will think you are right. Active accounts on 6/6/2009 were all invited. The recent full opening of beta was to allow in any reactivations or new accounts that did not receive invites.
You might want to read what I posted and actually learn a little. Might do you some good.

Priority Access for VIPs (subscribers) was taking place only then there was a stress test, and they _artificially_ made everyone wait in the queue to calibrate it and find possible issues. When they switched it off, all people got in at once. There were no queues otherwise.
Today there were 2 Harbor instances and 3 Market instances, who knows how many those of Korthos. No queue, no LAG even. Yeah, absolutely no lag.
Yesterday in stress test I've seen very little lag too, if any. That was really impressive, honestly. I'm Free to Play now, by the way.

Well there is a good chance on release day there will be queues and that would be a good thing as long as they then upgrade servers as needed or add more if the need arises. VIPs will be moved to the head of the line for queues if they happen.

HAHA this is just great!
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
