Its an open beta, it will be a payed MMORPG once, therefore, no it's not. But its a pretty fun MMO all the same.

If ignorance is bliss, you'd think people would be happier when you point out what morons they are!

    Tried it.

    My opinion:

Poor Interface and Poor Game Play!

I've played a LOT of games in my short 47 years on earth.

RYL is one of the WORST online games that I've ever played.

I'm sure others love the game.

    To each their own.

If you want to see a very well done Online game... Look at Priston Tale. Interface and Game play is very very solid.

I've seen a lot of software in my 27+ years as a Computer Programmer. A lot of it works well and many did a pretty poor job.

I'll not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Find something gamewise that works for you and enjoy it.

...I would comment on this but I dont want my post to get deleted.
So I'll just say I strongly disagree, I've played PT before.

F2P games will *ALWAYS* suck. Theyll nvr be as gd as big budget MMOs. The community may be better, some features may be better, but the game will not be even close to as gd as P2P. I think the reason is obvious.

Also, low-budget beta MMOs will, 99100 times, suck badly also. If the game isnt a totally mindblowing concept, they wont get very big imbursements from production companies. That means that they don get very much staff, so little or no GMs (or, god forbid, PLAYER GMs, possibly the worst idea dev teams have come up with to cut costs). This results in low content, bad gfx, horrible communities with little intervention from GMs, etc.

If youve nvr played a P2P MMORPG, youve nvr played a real MMORPG. No matter wat play style suits you, there is a P2P one that is 100X better than any F2P one youve tried.

    R.Y.L is like 4th or 5th on my list of Free/OB MMORPG's

AO is my favorite Free/OB MMORPG atm, im having a GREAT time with this free year limited subscription thingy... i suggest you give it a shot...

if not that then try Tantra... it's not that great, but deffinatly better then R.Y.L (IMO)

    ?

EDIT (instead of posting jus a question mark :p) I put OBF2P in the same category. Theyre filled with freeloaders, which means HORRIBLE COMMUNITY. Theyre all juvenile delinquents who's parents wont give them access to their credit cards (mostly for gd reason).

I try to play OB games, cuz I like a backup game (while my P2P game is under maintenance, if I get bored, etc..) Most of them are L2 lookalikes, with no or little tradeskills (a game w/o tradeskills = crap), lack of quests, content.. They suck. RYL is no exception.

Unless you want to play mage, getting to lvl 40+ will be hard (unless youre a mage's bish *AHEM* puller). Not to mention the KSers and looters (freeloaders with no manners).

I've been seeing a trend lately from these less-publicised games. During Open Beta, a horde of n00bs (in reference to those who don't want to learn about the game, and instead make stupid questions on forums and on-line) will come and hog the servers, create mess. After the game went gold, these freeloaders will disappear. By then the gaming community will have bad remarks to that game and the game suffer.

It is these freeloaders that pisses me off. Can't afford to pay, or at least be decent enough to act civilly and rely on Internet anonymity to act stupid online. Man, no wonder some games go bankrupt in the end. Or have a dying community.

(Which of course might have not happened if the games themselves were not crappy enough.)

RYL will manage, if barely. I've seen these hordes come and go, and leaves a bad mark on the game. (I've experienced the Malaysian beta a few months ago. Quite ok, I should say. But don't get your hopes high. I was not expose to the game enough to give you a clearer view.)

    Now awaiting for GUILD WARS.

Now if only I can play WoW here...

I agree with you there, but these games also don have wat it takes for a MMORPG to survive these days. Ppl are coming to realize that MMORPGs are becomming a huge market, so everyone n their dog is trying to get in on the money. But, they lack skills or thought in creating wat every gd MMORPG should have.

This results in a huge number of half-rate games. Now, if only some of these companies could merge to create a smaller number of better quality games. That would be nice.

I know that Risk Your Life is in a Beta stage, but having played for some time all I can say is really that I don't think it can be good, not with its' overlaying concept.

Even most MUDs will beat RYL, and I don't like MUDs.

Nope it isn't.  AO is free and much better MMO.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

AO is one of the better MMos and for no one to answer your shouts for help leads me to wonder just what kinda help you wanted.

I for one get tired of the endless noobs who come to games wanting every little thing spelled out for them, yes , I was a noob once in all the games I have played, but I learned to play them without asking others. What do players like you do in single player games? give up after 20 minutes since there is no one to tell you how to play.
