Space Exploration Expands the Economy of Star Wars Galaxies®: Jump to Lightspeed(TM)
The launch of Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed has created new avenues of fun for pilots and produced an economic boon to the game's shipwright professionals.
Master Shipwrights are reporting huge sales for quality iconic ships. "Your average X-wing sells for about 220,000 credits on the open market in game, while ships crafted by highly skilled shipwrights can command even more. Business is very brisk!" says Ackoman, a Master Shipwright on the Ahazi server.
Recognizing that amassing over 200,000 credits for a brand new player can be a daunting task, the games developers have significantly improved the starter ships for all three novice piloting professions. Starting craft are now upgradeable with better components and come standard with a hyperdrive for faster adventuring throughout space.
And both brand new and active players with Jump to Lightspeed will receive a 75,000 credit bonus automatically added to their accounts to aid in the purchase of high level ship components.
For those interested in creating their own saga in the Star Wars universe (including the entire Jump to Lightspeed experience), starting December 17, 2004, FilePlanet.com will host a 10 day free trial.

Try as they might, this really doesn't mean anything to me as a former player of SWG. That game, and more specifically, its developers, do nothing but destroy the Star Wars universe a little bit more with every passing "patch" or now "expansion". Star Wars: Galaxies is old news as far as MMOs go and its absolutely disgraceful as far as Star Wars games go. Oooo, a bonus 75,000 credit incentive? give me a break. One good gun costs twice that on that ridiculous game.
I'll return to SWG when they spend a year making that game into STAR WARS, instead of some lackluster sci-fi MMO with a light splattering of Star Wars'esque paint, but they're never going to do that. The staff they employ is CLEARLY incapable of it. Its a shame a good company like BioWare didn't make the SW MMORPG.
I would love to say that I dissagree....
Unfortunately Cujo is f**king spot on. This game gets worse by the second. They may as well just give people unlimited credits and a full fleged master jedi when they buy the game. THat is what it will take to keep people playing it the way it is.
If however they want it to be a viable game they need to go back to their roots and remember the success they enjoyed during the first 5 months after release. There was a reason the game did so well back then in fact there are several.
1. No jedi yet
2. no buffs
3. no 80% armor
4. no uber poisons
These among countless other reasons are what made the game fun and balanced. The removal of these aspects have turned SWG into something that oughta be ashamed to call itself Star Wars.

I would have loved to have liked this game, but I just can't. I was hoping that this expansion would smehow improve the game to the state it should have been in at launch, but my account will remain cancelled. They make it worse and worse everytime they try to "fix" something. No one should start with a ship, it would be much more fun and make much more sense if you had to work your way up to get a ship.
SWG has no economy, everything costs an insane amount that is good and the game is a borring proccess of ........buff....kill until buffs run out.....heal......and repeat.
SWG is still providing me with alot of fun atm as long as i get 3+ months out of the game then i will consider it good and worth while. I think the game is still fun for new people to start and will provide you with months of entertainment. While is sounds like SoE have changed the game alot from retail which seems to have pissed alot of people off, from someone who has never experienced what it was like back then, its fun now. While these veterans of SWG say its a shit game for them, if you like Sci-fi MMORPGs this game is a good one to get. As for Jump to light speed, its my favort part of the game, the starting ship upgrades and stuff is never helpful for someone who wants to get into the whole space side of things.
My bro played that game for 1 year.. I rember cause he quit after one year to play FFXI.
The game gets old at high levels, due to the 80% armor, and all that.
He left before the mass Jedi rush, back when Jedi was still somthing amazing.
But yea I can imagine its only gotten worse.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...
