Browser MMORPG that isn't aimed at 10-year olds?

I'm in the mood for some new shit, and something that I'll be able to play on a Netbook in the future. basically i'm just kinda not in the mood to be overly worried about my computer specs, I want a game I can play anywhere, on any computer. and I got my heart set on a Netbook in the near future anyway.

I do NOT want to play Runescape. other than that, 2D, 3D I don't much mind, as long as it is Browser-Based with no download required, and is Free (not "Freemium").

I was thinking about trying Adventure Quest Worlds, but I happened to be in the library one day with my daughter, and when I let her get on the computer play one of her little Edutainment games, there were a bunch of kids sitting around, gotta be no older than 9 or 10, and they were all playing Adventure Quest Worlds. so I'm assuming that the game kinda caters to that age group. which of course, turned me off to it. if I am wrong about this, lemme know and I'll give AQW a shot.

any suggestions here?  beyond Runescape, are there any other options?

If it's free and easy to get to, then kids are going to be all over it. There's really no avoiding that. You may as well try it. It's basically a no commitment deal.

AQ Worlds is a good time waster, not a serious RPG but still worth a try if you're bored. It is full of 10-14 year olds but people rarely talk on it and you can always move to a different room so putting up with them isnt a problem. Its worth a try if you dont have anything else to play, im actually looking for the same thing now as i've played it for about 2 weeks and am starting to lose interest.

    Anyway hope i helped :)

Cthulhu nation is a browser game that is aimed towards the more mature people in the world. It is a game world based in the Lovecraft universe. Check it out!

I hope you'll enjoy it, I hear its different.

"We are also aware that due to our content we may have some younger users on our site. Whilst this game (Cthulhu Nation)does not carry any recognised age certification as to its content, we give our own recommendation that older, more responsible children (13+), play this game due to the more mature audience that the game attracts. This reflects not only on the game content itself, but also on the chat rooms and the forum content."

Ikariam is a great browser-based MMO if you like the city building and conquest aspect of games. The purchasable features don't really give any major advantage and you can compete just fine without spending a dime.

    Pardus is quite good.

    http://www.pardus.at/index.php

It is a Sci-Fi space RvR game.

There are premium accounts - but you don't need one.

There are a few things you cannot do, and places you can't go, without one - but nothing game breaking.

AQWorlds seems pretty decent. not a lot of community from what I see though. and pretty laggy when other people are around.

i will be looking into the other suggested games as well.
