Hey all, I bought a new 17" LCD monitor, and it has one dot almost directly in the middle that is off color, like when the screen is playing a movie, and the backround color is black, that ONE pixle is green. I asked my friend about it, and he said it was called a fixation dot. Could someone explain it to me please?

It means you bought a monitor that passed quality inspection with a minor defect. You won't be able to return it to the manufacturer because the defect is not big enough. The manufacturer expects minor defects and might even give you the size of a bad defect in it's warranty. The only possibility might be if whoever you bought it from wants to keep your business and will exchange it.
Just one more reason why I continue to say... Stay with CRT monitors.

its called a dead pixel. See how many dead pixels your warranty covers before you can take it back
Do us a favor and post the make of the monitor and the company that shafted you plz?
I have one too. It is a single red pixel. Nothing really to worry about.
