WoW - Therapist Ban

Banned for 72 hours for posting

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Therapy-Addiction-Warcraft-PC-Game,news-4346.html

 Article about therapists possibly going into wow to help treat online game addiction...hmmmz

Would you say this is the correct way for a company to respond? Is it really trolling?

    What did you put in your text? Surely you added more than just the link

    He wrote, the.rap.ist (<-- he avoided the proficiency filter). is going to check your brain out. Just look at the screen, no wonder you got suspended.

    You cant distinct this word after you set those punctuation. It could also mean rapist.

    Oh, duh! Sorry. I'm eating, drinking, watching TV, and browsing forums. I hate pointless threads like this. Why do peoplpe feel they can say or do whatever they want without repurcussions? Well, he could start a general MMO class action with Erik Estavillo. They can go tilting at windmills.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but if you try and say "Therapist" on the WoW official forums it becomes ceonsored, hence the need to evade it. Of course he could very well be trolling (hence The.ra.pist and not thera.pist) but I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

    I think you are trying to gloss over the fact that you implied therapists are rapists by reflecting blame on Blizzard.

    100% with Blizzard on this one.  You did the wrong thing mate, learn to take a bit of personal responsibility.

    EDIT: I wasn't aware that blizzard had a language filter on.  As it isn't possible to know if you intended it to be read the rapist or not I have to assume you didn't intend it to be and retract my comment.  That single word changes the entire nature of the post depending on how you read it.  I don't think a ban is warranted just on the link but you need to take into account how it reads.  My first reaction was that you had gone out of your way to make it read the rapist, maybe Blizzard did too.

    It doesn't really matter in that case, he avoided the filter and the word that came out could be misunderstood rather easy. He already made a mistake by trying to avoid the filter.

    It only blocks out therapist because it has the word "Rapist" in it. It's necessary to evade the filter to actually get your point across.

    He could use Psychologist for instance :). I know what you mean but look at it from a mod standpoint, the mod wont bother to click the link. It could contain all sort of bad things.

    Yeah, but there was no reason to seperate the from rapist. Could have easily just done thera.pist, especially since that's closer to how it's pronounced anyway.

    The Rapists invade WoW?

    Seriously, they'll ban anyone for anything on those forums. It's the only way they can keep the population down to a manageable size. Every post you make is a step closer to a permanenet ban - temporary bans are just milestones on the way to your ultimate goal on the WoW forums.

    The original post was therapist, but it came out as @##$$@#% so i just added periods. I suppose i could have done it differently lol, but still...

    If you are telling the truth then it was probably just a misunderstanding on the mods part.

    I think I have a fix, "the shrinks invade wow."

    Trolls = Hardcore
    Fanbois = Carebears

    The only posts I read in threads are my own.

    Another view point could be "Blizzard doesn't want people to know about MMO addiction, because they would lose money".

    Yeah, if that's the case I would hope some mod would be willing to take another look at the case. Unless they are total asshats and don't want anything that could be remotely construed as being anti-WoW. Although I would argue it is pro-WoW!
