First Person Shooter (FPS) MMORPG with quests, PvE and PvP

ZatiusZatius Member Posts: 5

Hello, a year or two ago i asked this same question and got some great responses from your members.  Unfortunately, what i was looking for wasn't available yet.

I currently play RuneScape and Unreal Tournament.  I would love an MMORPG like RuneScape that has a first person shooter combat style like Unreal Tournament.   Is there any game out there like this?

Thanks in advance for your time in replying to my thread.

Although a great game, the company that made it is bankrupt and there gonna re-release it in 2010 as a f2p game but until then the game won't have any patches or anything.

If you liked runescape you might like Eve and mabinogi but as a main shooting game there's nothing as of right now. Huxley, All points bulletin, global agenda, fallenearth, earthrise are some games you might want to look out for though, but especially fallen earth.

Darkfall might fit the bill for you.

It's got a little grind to get you to an effective level, but the grind has lessened lately.

It's got a little PVE ( not much, really ), and it's PVP is mostly clan vs. clan, but it more resembles a persistant FPS ( in my opinion ) than anything else ( not really a MMORPG, but again that's just my opinion after playing it for three months ).

It's not a very popular game, the population is tiny, and after a while it's "same old same old", but it might be worth your time to check out their offical forums.

    It can't hurt to look.

    I would recommend two games.

The first is Gunz. It can be played for free via www.ijji.com. It is basically a third person mmofps. You can do a variety of moves, including wall running and some special jumps. Swords and knives are also included so there is a melee element there as well. You level your character, buy new equipment, etc. Games are joined via a lobby system, there is no persistent world. The game has a cash shop but I am not sure how it functions exactly.

Second there is Rakion. It can be played for free via www.softnyx.net. Rakion is much like Gunz only focusing primarily on melee combat and with a fantasy theme. The combat is smooth and pretty fun. It is simple to understand but difficult to master. Rakion suffers from a severely unbalanced cash shop. Many games will specify no cash items, however. There is also a lag problem. It is best played from a fast connection. Finding games outside of levels 1-10 can be difficult during slow times. There is also some hacking going on, but it doesn't disturb a normal player too much (most of the time). The hacks come and go as the game is patched.

Both of these games can be fun to kill a few hours.
