It's just low lvl combat and it's just from an event like e3 or something. The people play testing are really the guys everyone wants to see videos from, but they can't until F&F testing is done.
No ship collision detection??? That's a game breaker for me. In a space flight SIM there is no excuse for flying through someone else’s ship while engaged in combat maneuvers. Both ships should take damage on impact and repel.

I like ship collision too but if your smashing into your target a lot then you really need some space combat lessons lol. It simply is not a big part of game play and so it really does not matter too much.
There is collision with big targets like cap ships and stations but I don't think they have pvp collision.
There is ship collision, they have repeatedly said so and have even released information like the bigger the object the more damage you will take. I believe the first couple levels (like the one you see) they've turned it down for learning purposes.
The combat isn't too bad considering it's probably really low level against dumb NPCs and by a player with very little experience with the game. The best part is that it is in first-person view! I absolutely hate the arcade feel of all the other third-person view combat videos I've seen.
There never has been ship collision and there never will be. It simply puts too much load on the servers. I agree that collision is important for immersion, but there are plenty of ways to exploit it in an MMO. Griefing is the main example.
i like the lasers seem to actually fly like lasers... really fast!
What? Real lasers don't "fly" at any speed noticeable by the human eye. Laser beams are composed of photon wave-particles (i.e., light) traveling at the speed of, well, light, and the beams are continuous (i.e., not broken into "blaster packets"). In outer space, you wouldn't even be able to see a laser beam unless it passed through a cloud of dust or vapor (or shone directly into your eye), because the beam is polarized.
I know what you're saying, but these are still 100% Hollywood "blaster energy packets," nothing like real lasers by any stretch of the imagination.

When I played JGC, the fighting sure didnt look like this. Is this Newtonian physics??
The guy flying is a noob at a convention just getting the handle on dampered flight. The more experienced pilots use undampered fight for combat mostly I would think, mixing dampered in as they see fit. But it does let you see how you need too aim to hit the target and selecting a target is just to aid you in keeping track of your target.

The gameplay in that video just looks awful in my opinion... nothing like Freelancer which is what I really wanted to see.
I think it does look like freelancer, if you have the mouse control always turned on.
if any of you had a chance to play allegence before Microsoft scraped it, it was the best space sim imo.
