The launch of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited will be experiencing a minor delay. Instead of launching on August 6th, the game will now launch on September 9th, 2009.
From the press release:
“We’ve been holding a series of live events as part of the beta program and have seen an unprecedented level of participation from players. While we are very pleased with the performance of the game and are excited about the response from the players, we are committed to delivering a high-quality experience. We feel that more time is needed to deliver on this commitment. As a result, we are delaying our launch to ensure that we can support the massive increase in players that we are expecting and deliver them a free to play experience like none other.”

Must just be doing some polish. I've been in the beta the last couple months and having no problems at all. Game runs fine, no crashes or anything.
A delay for DDO? I don't believe it!
so...
Darn was hoping to try out the game next week...now gotta wait another month.
What?! Delaying a game, thats been released for some time now? OMG, Im so not playing this, Turbine look like a bunch of amateurs.
I am pretty disappointed too, but what you wrote isn't constructive at all. That's fail.
This isn't the same game, this is like releasing new project. All works on a different system, just with old (plus new) content. But yeah, stay away from this game with your attitude ; ).

I've had a few crashes in pvp but either than that I havent seen any bugs, maybe they are just adding new hirelings or improving the DDO store to fit more people.
Bah on this. I was looking forward to playing, still have not gotten into the Beta. Now I have to wait an entire month longer...
*sigh*
Oh well. Heres to hoping the delay is worth it.
Better to have it launch and work smooth while being able to handle the large influx of free people and everyone hammering the new store, then to have it released now and break as everyone floods the servers.
I honestly don't think that's going to be an issue. It's still fundamentally the same game. I cannot see people "flooding the servers". If it were that good (and consequently, popular), we wouldn't even be discussing it because they would never have moved to this model to begin with. "Free" doesn't mean the game just got better.

Actually it is pretty much the same game, just with a mod and store added on. A mod that was promoted way back in January and delayed over and over again throughout the year, each time keeping fans hanging on by promises that were never delivered.
I was a founder but haven't played in quite a while. Some friends had actually talked me into trying F2P with them again. They've played the game for quite a while but even they are very tired of the broken promises. They like the gameplay and I liked it despite the bugginess and lack of content when I played. Unfortunately, Turbine does fail when it comes to the way they treat their playebase. No way they didn't know this needed to be delayed before they announced it. They wanted as much sub money as possible from the promise of early entry, just like they made promises throughout the year to keep people paying for empty promises.
Well, I tried it awhile back and kept getting violent BSOD crashes at random points. Its the only game that does that. My system runs Eve, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Spellborn, Champions(beta) , Two moons, World of warcraft, Gates of Andaron, Quake4 UT3(and more) without any problems. Vista 64 SP1(all current updates) the current Nvidia 64 bit drivers. Current drivers for my XiFx SB card. Quad core 2.5, Geforce 9800, and 6 gigs of ram. Perhaps I'll try it again next year some time.
I can tell you from personal knowlage that there customer service sucks I tried to subscribe(vip) but my old account isnt showing up on my turbine account guess ill have to wait at least till it goes free.
I hope the worked out some of the huge kinks that were in the game near release especially the no contenent thing only a few measly city districts.
make a world, not a game, we dont want another game.

Still, I'm afraid that's a problem with your PC. I've installed this game on many of PCs now, and have a dozen of friends who installed it, and had no problems...
Brenth --> Do you mean you don't have your characters on beta server Lamannia? This is possible, as Lamannia's database was copied from live servers more than half a year ago. That's why it's not up to date with old live servers. Though on launch it won't matter, as beta characters won't go live anyway - old "live" ones, yes.

My (uninformed) guess is that the delay has most to do with making a new product financially sustainable. There's plenty to test in finding out what people will pay for and how much. I'm not aware of another large-scale title like DDO that's transitioned from subscription to micro-payment. They're paving some new territory and I'm sure there's more than even a month of new data you'd want before being comfortable in the change.
I'm running Vista64 and it runs super smooth (hope I'm not breaking the NDA by saying that).
I wonder if the lack of content concern is one of a hardcore MMO player. My daily time constraints only allow for casual gameplay and the instanced quest design leaves me with a better feeling of completion than other MMOs I've played lately. I'm not close to running out of content yet, but have maybe just a little over 10 hours/wk to play a game.

Its possible. Given the gigantic number of variables involved. But its not worth my time to track it down for one game at this point. Perhaps they will fix it some time in the future. But if you google it, I'm not the only person with the problem.

You're not.
A simple google search will come up with LOTS of Vista related issues involving BSODs &/or the game not being compatible with Aero, so when it is forced to a Basic theme, it locks up/crashes/etc...
i mean when I try to reactivate my subscription all turbine shows me is my LOTRO account
i have the origional game disks and key
perhapse i need to load that in as well? (i just had unlimited installed)
in any case turbine hasnt responded

From what I understand, the store had major issues. People not being able to buy stuff, the store crashing, people buying stuff and not getting it, so it seems they had to postpone. The store not working well is a rather big problem when it goes free to play.
I feel bad for my friends. They keep hanging in there though. Someday mod 9 will be out.
