Templars and important stats

This thread is basically to elaborate on templars and tanking well in pve and pvp.  I'm thinking the following stats should be implimemted in the following order of importance as such, but feel free to disagree (with reason) or elaborate on what you think.

 

PvE Stats

 

#1 shield block-throwing up your shield and blocking damage as a templar is a VERY important aspect of combat, especially at higher levels when blocking has a higher percentage.  The DP skill for templars also allows them to block ALL attacks for 15 seonds, so having a high shield block value will allow you to live through pretty much anything for at least the duration (15 seconds) as long as you have a healer.  This is amazingly great to use in emergency situations durring key points in boss fights, and can save the whole party from wiping, thus why I chose this skill as the most important.  this will also affect every normal shield block, thus durastically reducing the dps you recieve in combat, taking pressure off the healer(s).

#2 Magic Resistance-well tanks would be pretty worthless if you could take a million hits from a boss, then get owned by a single caster mob...so magic resistance is also important.  All templars should have at least some magic resistance gear, and maybee even specific gear tuned twords magic resistance for caster bosses.

#3 Health Points-Gotta have some hp...what good is a squishy tank?

#4 Evasion-Hey, evading an attack completly, that's good for a tank right?...wrong.  Personally I think this is a terrible stat for templars...why would I want to evade when I can have shield block most of the damage anyways, AND use one of my many super nifty uber shield countering abilities that cause a good amount of damage AND aggro.  Seriously...don't put evasion on your templar if you can help it.

 

PvP Stats

 

#1 Magic resistance-Omg...seriously...casters rape templars, the only way you can stand a chance is to resist some of their spells and catch em with a stun or slowing attack and shank em to death.

#2 Evasion-yup...evasion deosnt suck here, cause blocking with a shield is only good about a third of the time, against other templar, assassins, and gladiators.  Evasion will also work on those pesky ranged attacks...well...the ones that aren't spells...I think.

#3 Strength-yup...gotta have strength...or you're pretty much just a whimpy meat shield in pvp.  Templars are terrible at doing damage...so try to offset this with some strength.

#4 Health Points-health helps any class in pvp really...so load up.

    I put shield defense in every slot.

    I finish most fights with full health or almost full health.

    haha, same here.  some fights I'd even GAIN total health compared to when I started combat cause I'd block, counter, stun, kill.

    Crit setup helps for templar's leveling solo.
