    Ugh.

Another great story that game developers will butcher for the sake of delivery quests, kill quests, and grinding.

    Can't wait.

Yes it was annonced last November.

Even though Red Eagle has the backing of EA games I would almost rather see this game be a low budget game than a more shallow big budget version.  But then again a big budget not only increases the chances of actual release but  means money for devs to create content.

WoT offers so many possibilities for a MMO.  With so many types of classes.  7 Aes Sedai possible classes, Aiel stealher classes, sailor sea folks, wolf charatcers like Perrin, Noam, and Elyas, warders, children of the light, Sechan, wise ones and black tower male aes sedai.  So many starting races and such detailed towns and lore.   Add in all the factions and the game could be very complex.  The world could be huge.

This game offers so many possibilites in a MMORPG or even in a Bioware story telling type game.

Regardless WoT is one of the all time best Fantasy book series if not the best.  Certainly the most detailed fantasy world.

    oh god not EA...

Oh well i hope the author gets to bitch slap the quest writers to make decent quests in this game.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

That will prbably not happen as the author is dead.  But his wife might be able to do that for you.

    /agree

Just another MMO company taking a popular IP and gonna turn it into a 2nd rate WoW rip-off.

incoming 2k tools named Logaihn, Dragonreborrrrn, Randalthordragon, etc.

I'd be in to beta it, but honestly, between the backer, the rabid fanbois and the string of major ip flops lately, it'd be doubtful i'd play past beta.

oh, and if it stays true to Jordan's works,  I'd hate to have to buy 8 expansions to finish a quest started at launch, going thru 9000 pages of quest text each step of the way :P

mm if they cut out the intro shit like

the wheel of time turn bla bla for for the first 50 page it might be good

i read the whole serie there are very good part but the intro i cant stand its the same for all book lol

but since the writer is dead ea will be stuck with his son ,i hope they got the money to do a great game if not they would be better just release another sim or ea sport title ,im sorry but ea as a mmo maker asnt flew very high and

wheel of time as been done before i played the game (beurk )

if eawant to do a game they should go buy the right of the serie (anime)ONE-PIECEinstead thats an insanely funny serie etc

if they can bring the soul of this serie(very hard )because of translation issue almost all site i stream this had the same problem

its about the only anime that could make a greatmmo game

    why?

its been on 10 year ,its still churning out episode every week they got 411 yet ,9 film the 10 being released in december 2009

only one thing can compare warcraft  wow serie from blizzard they ve been on 10 year also

but one exeption i dont beleive anybody ever made a game out of  one piece serie i could be wrong tho maybe in japan (home)

what make this serie good is the emotional factor and the sheer sillyness but its included in the story its not random like gintama or other serie from there

This is an extremely weird and surprising announcement.I thought that game was interesting to say the least and it used the same setup as UT99[same file system].Heck i played and bought that game just so i could steal the textures from it to use in UT99 lol.

The thing is that the game was not very popular,it was kind of the game that people who are daring and willing to try anything would play it.Of course it had zero marketing zero hype, sop it really had no chance to make it big,not that it was that good to deserve it anyhow.

I have no idea what the developer is going to pull from WOT to enable a rich in depth MMORPG,i will be half ass interested however to see what they come up with.

It's not that great a story, more like Lord of the Rings but with a hell of a lot more words and mind-numbing detail.

"Rand thought, "hey, I think I'll start walking."  Whereupon Rand lifted his left foot, swung it through the air in front of him, and set it down.  "Light!  This is incredible.  I moved forward half a span.  Let me try that again.  I hope the Dark One isn't watching.  Burn me for even thinking of him."  Rand couldn't tell if he was awake or dreaming (HINT:  flip a coin, 50/50 chance he's dreaming).  Rand pulled his cloak tightly about himself, suddenly cognizant of the way his eyebrow hair was softly blowing in the breeze, how it chafed, and brushed against the hood of his cloak.  This eyebrow chafing cloak was grey with 2 small stripes at the end of each sleeve, which were about 4 inches too short for him because Egwene had accidentally peed on his good cloak while practicing to tie knots in flows of the One True Source (aka the One Power, aka The Power, aka the OTS, the Big P, aka the Shizzle on my Nizzle) the night before and he had to borrow one from an ox-cart driver.  Oh, that ox-cart driver.  If only his whip didn't have so many gouges in it and his cloth wasn't just a notch better quality.  He could have driven ox-carts for the Queen.   But no matter, Rand thought, 'I'm awake (I think), and walking."  Another step.  Another half a span closer to my destiny.  And by destiny, I mean getting to that inn over there so I can seqway into 20 pages of describing the 43rd pot-bellied innkeeper in this saga, with a white apron and name no one will remember past the next chapter."

Well I felt the books were like an endless grind so they cant be all wrong to make it into a mmo. :D

You made my morning, thanks for that. :)

I'd love a good WoT MMORPG, though.  The books should have ended about book 4, he uses too many words, and has trite female characters.  But, I still liked the overal setting and story quite a bit and it would make for a fun MMORPG experience if done right.

I'd rather have Jordans 600+ pages books than the Hollywood cutdown special....

Ever read a Clive Cussler book? Ever watched one of the hollywood movies based on his books? One is 600 pages of pure goodness, the other is actiony balloney barely resembling the book... Yet, the movies got fans that call his books drowsy...

I love his books, don't get me wrong.  But he often goes into such excruciating detail about pointless atmospheric aspects that it is often hard to follow.  He has this consistent and wierd habit of interrupting simple 10 word sentences with 5-10 lines of ancillary material that could have just as easily been omitted or expressed in a separate sentence.  By the time you finish reading the sentence, you have to go back to the beginning to remember how it started.

    ROFL!!!

It was just this type of writing that made me quit reading long before I got to the end of the series.  When Jordan began comparing women's fashions in the different cities, that was it for me.  Too bad, because the core of the story was interesing.

Yep, that is what we need...another fantasy bsed MMORPG!  Woohoo!

  • drbaltazardrbaltazar Member UncommonPosts: 7,856

some detail are so explicit good luck trying to put it in the game ,like when jordan speak about the dimentional portal etc come on how can a fucking portal like that be implemented in the game i would be sick just seeing my self use that old relik its like going to six flag forgawrd then doing it again evbery possible way a portal could be used just thinking about it makes me dizzy lol

    its a good story

but puting grind in a book god dam what was he thinking

if they remoove the clutter non sense those 12 book could fit in prob 6 or 7 good book

so they get enough content for a lot of  game i recall this story where they start this story is epic in it self

its a good call when you think about it

but the big problem is EA when did they ever made a successfull mmo

    never lol

and thats where this game might hurt a lot

if it was same title etc but made by say blizzard hell this would become THE next mmo

    why?

the lore is epic if you forget the grind the lore is nice

we ll see,i dont believe EA is a company patient enough to make an epic game out of WOT

unless they got a new way we dont know yet

i just hope they dont use an engine from an existing game
