Want to buy the collectors edition

FedendeSvaneFedendeSvane Member Posts: 12

Hey everyone.

I just decided to buy Aion and preorder it now so I could join the beta events. But every where I looked I won't recieve a box with the manuals, CDs and stuff. I know I will get the account now but no box will be shipped when the game is launched at 9.22.09. How come? I know it might sound stupid but I really want a box and not just some account on the Internet.

Hope any of you could assist me on this matter. Thanks in advance :)

Go to a gamestop, they dont have the collectors edition anymore but they will have the normal box

If you watch The Karate Kid backwards it's about this karate champ that just kinda slowly becomes a pussy and ends up moving back to Jersey

First off. The Collector's Edition isn't an actual box... its Digital. There is no special anything inside the box aside from digital items and early access and closed beta entry. Second, where did you preorder? Different distributors have different rules. GameStop has horrible pre-order code policies and employees have or have not distributed the proper material if you pre-order with them. We'll be able to help you better once we know where you pre-ordered.

There is Limited Collectors Edition and it is boxed. It comes with DVD of the game, manuals, soundtrack CD, some artwork, a 6.5" action figure, etc. which was available at Gamestop for awhile, but its no longer available there. I am not sure if the LCE is around anymore, but you could check Amazon, Best Buy, etc.

    Ah, you mean this: http://news.mmosite.com/content/2009-05-31/20090531191725108.shtml

I stand corrected. But to the OP, there's no more of these available. But if you managed to secure one, congrats. You do need to receive the special registration code from these stores... if they don't know wtf you're talking about, you're getting ripped off.

There was only 50k of the boxed CE produced thats why you can't get one.

Oh how pleased i am to have 2 coming to me especially at £17.99 each becasue Amazon.co.uk have to hold the price they listed it at in February :)

Obiviously your not going to get a box with CDs now because the game isnt out yet. Go to Best Buy and ask for the Aion pre-order case. Which comes with a Beta Key inside and thats all.

You can have the cashier ring up the Collectors Edition for 70$ with all the fun goodies and its worth it OR you can pay 50$ for just the game itself. BTW the Collectors Edition comes with a hand painted figurine, 30 days free play, CD sound track, Poster with map, and also in game items that have kick butt starting stats.

Looks like Best Buy has them but the status of the item is "Coming Soon". Not sure if that means they're sold out and just don't want to tell us or they haven't gotten them for online distribution yet.

Best Buy has the pre-order Collectors Edition at my Pittsburgh store. Check there and you will get all the extra goodies.

I was considering to maybe buy CE directly from the official site. I just recently created an account. Just need some confirmations before I do it. Something I'm not aware of perhaps?

If you buy from the official site you only get a digital copy. If you don't want to have the box, figurine, soundtrack and art book, then you're good. You'll still get the special in game items and the code to get into the last beta. And I believe you also get an extra 7 days of free game play.

I was at my local  Best Buy today and a worker there told me that this particular store had ordered 50 Aion CE. He said that if ordered they will hold them for 1 week after release for you. I do not know if every Best Buy is ordering 50 or if it varies but for what its worth, there is a bit of info.

This is actually a little misleading.  If you preordered the collectors edition from Bestbuy.com and choose in-store pickup then they will get a CE box shipped to the store with your name on it.  That one they will hold until you come pick it up.  That is if the CE is still available on Bestbuy.com.

If you buy the physical box from a Bestbuy store and have the cashier ring up the CE sku on the back of the pre-order box then you will be able to pick up one of the CE boxes when the game is released.

The problem is, Bestbuy always sells more CE pre-orders then they will get in, which means, it's first come first serve.  As long as you go in the day the game is released you should have no problem getting a CE box, if you wait a few days, they will probably be all gone by the time you get there.

The sales associate was not lying, however.  What they meant was that the CE boxes will not go on the shelves until a week after the game is released.  If they still have any left then they will put the remaining CE boxes on the shelf for people who did not pre-order to buy.

Also the amount of boxes varies per store.  It's based on expected sales in that region and the amount of pre-orders sold at the time the final order was placed.  It's not an exact science, and for popular games there is usually a shortage at a lot of stores.

Meaning, get there early, or don't expect to get the game.

Edit:  I would also like to add that, unfortunately, some stores do not follow company/industry policy on pre-orders.  You can chalk this up to incompetent employees or bad training.  Whatever the reason some stores will put all of the regular boxes of a new released game on the shelf, only saving 0-10 for pre-order customer, which most of the time does not cover it.

I have even seen a few stores put the CE boxes on the shelf on the first day the game is released.
