Hello.
I just pre-order AION and I would be really glad if some experienced players could help me out. For some reason I ALWAYS pick the class that SUCKS. Like in WOW. I was playing as a mage. They sucked so bad.
So this time I would be really glad to start with a class that is GOOD. For once I want to kick someone’s butt and /spit
Well I was thinking of playing a warrior- dps gladiator?
Is the any official “best race or class “ ? or most popular ?
Thanks…

MOst popular are the stealth classes (Hunter and Assassin). Melee DPS or Range DPS with stealth...always a tough (and in many games overpowered) combination in pvp. However (especially with the hunter) they are tough to level up..so many players drop em early on.
Gladiator is a solid choice, and easy to level. Sorcerer is a very powerful class from start to finish. I say follow your WoW mage ways and enjoy
Good Luck

Thanks for the answer but i do not agree. Om wow, basically all the classes owns the mages. Why could it be any different on this game?
Are you sure they are good? I dont care about how hard they are to lvl.
I just want a powerful class

Sound like you want to play a Assassin.
Hehe..Thanks but do you think there is any possibility of telling me a little about the assassin?
Is the class fun? Is it like the rouge on WOW? Fun skills?

It would probably help you a great deal if you posted this on the AION threads....
Another point, play what YOU like, why do want "the best" or "most popular"? The devs go through a lot of trouble and time to bring variety and customization to these games and you want to be a clone?
The players of this genre are such a losing battle sometimes....
Strongest class is Cleric probably. If you want to gank Assassin or Ranger. If you want to group and do great AOE DPS the Gladiator. Sorc is awesome too. Classes are very balanced here just pick the one with the playstyle you like.
I personally like the cleric, since I only die in pvp and/or group wipes, but rarely at that. Keep in mind cleric's have to carry two sets of gear to be effective at both soloing and group roles (yes you can keep your group gear with +mp and +hp to solo, but +magic boost makes things faster). As far as I have seen though, class balance is pretty well done in this game (from playing Cbt1-5 that is).
Cheers!

Sorcerers in AION get alot of CC spells and their spells do alot of damage. Nothing like getting hit from somewhere in the sky by one, only to die trying to fly to him as a melee'r. They are far from weak.
Cheers!

the chanter is the most fun healer class i have played in any mmo in a long time you can dps and heal, fun times.
that sounds very interesting, thank you for the answer.

really ? you making me reconsider the sorc class mate

Classes are pretty balanced, it depends on your style, if you have a duo going on 2 rangers are probably the best gankers in both abyss and rifts, if you are a soloer, assassin and templars work well, gladiator works in groups so does spiritmaster, sorcerer isn't a late bloomer and you might have troubles with certain classes at the endgame since people are stacking magic defence in Korea and it seems to work well against stuns, even though in 1.5 they separated the CC resists so people might change their strategies now in favor of sorcs, sorcs are hella rewarding though, cause it requires a lot of skill to play it well and succeed.
Chanters are pretty strong with good equipment, probably one of the best endgame wise if you know how to kite and time your stuns in 1v1 and pretty useful in group pvp, clerics got a bit nerfed but they are still hella strong and necessary (2 per party in pvp).
Your class choice won't be the factor stopping you from kicking asses in aion, at least not in the version we'll be getting.
thank you Ephimero for the great answer.
however i have a question remaining... im kinda sick of pvp after pvping om WOW so much but i still don't want people to rip me a new hole on pvp.
I want to be a class guild need be in need of, and random party's...
cleric sounds interesting, but are they fun end game?
would you recommend cleric or an hunter you say ?

Then in aion, as with all MMOs stay away from DPS. Everyone and their cousin plays a DPS while few play healers.
Healers may not get the glory, but every fight, battle, scirmish and war is won or lost based on this class type

Clerics are interesting enough, most of the times you'll be healing obviously, but from time to time you'll also be nuking people and even running into zergs to drop your voice of destruction aoe dot, they also have a random chance to pull massive damage with a chain combo. It's however a class with little customization compared to others, even though with the addition of casting speed in 1.5 things might turn out differently, until then every cleric used HP and magic resist setups with a bit of concentration in their equipment.
If you want a class for random parties and guilds, both chanter and cleric are probably the best choices, I played a Chanter on the korean OB and release and people would add me to their friend list continously even though I dont speak korean.

Sounds like Cleric/Templar/Chanter are good choices for you then. Everyone always needs a tank and healers. Chanter would be a good choice if you'd like to do some solo action. Though they tend to be a little underpowered at this time.
this is getting really interesting. If im going to be honest, then ok im not the best healer... i don't like the responsibility, to much pressure !
if was the healer a chanter? i am not familiar with the terms...
Cleric/Templar/Chanter
so the cleric heals...
and the Templar is a non dps warrior ?
and the chanter is like a shaman ? like something between?
but if the healers are like the prests in WOW then its ok..cuz then can kill off any class ether way..
I kill for fun...
The chanter is the team buffer. They are ok at healing, but not as good as clerics. Their dps is ok, but nothing great. Their defense is ok, but nothing great. Later on they get some CC abilities. Thus far, to me, chanters seem like a jack of all trades, excelling at nothing in particular; except maybe the buffing since its their forte. Its kinda cool being able to step into any role and help out.
Templar are the tanks.
Okay sorry.....but what happend to creating your own experiance, finding out what class fits best to your playstyle, remember this genre is a GAME and not a job, so there is no time limit, unless you your self puts that in.
Isn't it just cool to find things out for yourself?
I know my reply does not help much, but again sorry that's just how I feel when seeing someone ask a question like you did within this genre. Which to me is kinda one of the many reasons why this genre has been dumped down as people don't want to explore or experiance things themselfs but seem to want to know it all to get it all.

I understand where you're coming from, and its true to a certain extent. But when people do try it out for themselves, then come back and talk about there experience or have questions, then there are those that tell them they are idiots for not researching the game first. So it sounds like a catch-22 to me.
Since you said in the beginning, you wanted to play the dps gladiator, i would play that.
There is plenty of time to figure out if you like the class, and if you don't try another one.
My Thoughts on Content Locust
If you're asking for advice on what character is the current "flavour of the month", just pay very close attention to that last word. It's the curse of the class-based MMO that PvP balance ebbs and flows; no game has ever got it spot on (not one that I've played anyway) and it's a generally accepted principle that the buff-nerf cycle is designed to ensure that every class has its moment in the sun.
Choose a class that fits your playstyle; it will eventually receive FotM status and you'll get your time in the facerolling sunshine, but my advice would be to stay away from the first FotM class at release since it's par for the course that tons of people will roll them and you'll find yourself "just another <insert over-represented class here>" and that's not good in the early stages of the community when you presumably want to establish yourself as a good, reliable player and make friends/guild allegiances.

what nonsense question!
so you want to be supa mega overpowered cool dudez ?
so you need one kill all instant uber character?
kid i think you have serious problems, i recommend:
speek with your father!
BTW: in any decent game classes tend to become balanced so there is no long lasting overpowered class four you available to make thing an easy route for you:)
NOW: start thinking ...
Pick something you like and go with it. If after a while you dont like it , reroll. As for a mage sucking i had an alt frost mage in WOW and he was pretty strong. Also for the record about the best pvp toon i ever played against in wow was a fire mage that knew how to play his toon.
Mages sucked in wow? Did i miss that?
Sounds to me liek you need to figure out hwat your playstyle is and stop asking for advice on what class to play. All you are going to get is, everyone who plays melee will either say gladiator templar or assassin, the people who play range will say sorc, ranger, the people who like pet classes will say spirt master and the support ...supporters will say chanter and priest.
It doesnt matter how great people say a class is, if you dont like playing it then its just going to suck, as such, figure out the class you like for yourself., try them all.
