    1.) We get male Arthim's and female Aklag's as a playable races/genders.

2.) Square-Enix developers have no imagination what so ever, and decide not to put in the extra effort of concept designs,

including all the extra modeling, and other great stuff that ultimately allow us to play male Arthim's or female Aklag's.

3.) They decide that they will just rewrite the race lore in FFXIV to follow the same footsteps as MIthra's and Galka's. EVEN BETTER, REVERSE THE LORE! ITS BRILLIANT! "The Arthim are a race of cat-like humanoids with acceptional hunting skills who do the whole reincarnation doo daa, and are female because they worship mother earth, zomg, DID WE MENTION THEY ARE ALL FEMALE BECAUSE THERES NO MALES BECAUSE ITS NOT FATHER EARTH?!" while our good friends the Aklag's? "The Aklag are a race of muscle man beasts who beat their women and make them stay home, possibly in the kitchen all day, while they roam the wilderness, doing Aklag shit that only male Aklags can do because female Aklags gotta stay home and watch the kids and cook dinner."

Anyway, you never really know with Square Enix. Hopefully they will add atleast one or two new races, seeing as how in FFXI they added how many new classes, concepts that require more time and effort than implementing new races into a game. Oh yeah and lets hope the FPS cap isnt 30 again because they decided to build a mmorpg around a console. =/

I am sorry but I have to tell you that your #2 point is beyond ridiculous. SE is probably the most creative company on the market right now. The things they come up with are incredible. I would not see ANY other company that could compare with SE's imagination and creativity.

ur right, i read that over and was realized its not the point I wanted to get across, so i edited. all i wanted to get across was that they could decide to be lazy and not utilize their creative talent to come up with concepts for opposite genders for those two specific genders, but that idea would have just been the same as idea 3, so now idea 3 is idea 2. yay

That is like making an elf not have pointy ears or half-lings not have hairy feet because they are not in a Tolkien world. There are certain things that become universal truths when you create them. I can't think of much that are cross story ideas atm so I Can't really support the idea much more than that.

Actually things become universal truths after they have been repeated enough times.  Not when they are created.

I wish they would at least release the names of the races... and identify which race names belong to which character models. So we can get beyond our comfortable FFXI references.

From what I understand they haven't even confirmed the number of races in the game.  I think they'll have to decide that before they release names.  They may actually be considering fewer races.  Nobody knows.

Well there are for sure Taruish things, Mithraish, Galkaish, and humanish ones.  If you look on the logo you can clearly see all of those.  So having less seems impossible, however having more would be nice.

I'm hoping for atleast one new race.  There is a lot of speculation on this picture of a small child with horns in the picture on the offical website, some people are saying it'll be a playable race (they hope)

LoL, no male mithras according to FFXIV website? how creative SE. °-°

they say the mithra are supposed to be a big minority in population in lore.  I wonder if a lot of ppl will pick mithra and screw up the lore. lol

I'm upset I cannot be a male cat this time too.  ><

the fact that they claim it to be a "new world" with "new races" yet they keep stuff like only male galkas and female mithras is REALLY annoying

Of all those possible species, and those which have yet to be realized, you're asking to be a freaking kitty-cat. Puh-lease!

And that doesn't even include all the non-playable races! Instead of male mithra, i'd be more interested in playing as that Qiqirn rodent-race for the same benefits as a Mithra instead of actually playing a Mithra.

WRONG, all im saying is how UNCREATIVE it is for square to bring in the SAME TWO RACES, and say that THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES IN FFXIV, but still use the same retarded idea that FAT GALKA are only limited to MALES and MITHRA are only limited to FEMALES.

If there is another planet out there that supports life, would you say that planet has completely bizarre anti-humanoid beings or would you be more inclined to beleive that every living planet and creature was not unlike our own?

Haidelyn can be an entirely different world with the same races, except this world is more advanced and the races developed a little different. But genes and instict are two thigns that never change in spite of eons of evolution.

Even a different world is subject to the same rules. Gravity still applies and you can't breathe underwater.

Also, why say "FAT GALKA" without any name-calling for Mithra?

    Prejudice!

People will most definatly be calling them mithra/galka until the game is released and get used to the new names. Even after SE announces new names, it wont matter people will have to play the game and get acustomed to the names. So I suggest you just conced this battle and pick one you can win. (even tho your right) If you cant beat em join em.

I don't know... I rather like "Miqo'te" - it has a more tribal sound to it... like "Miqo'te Indians" or something. :-p

Well Miqo'te goes from bottom othe the list to top when im looking at a pic of one and then bottom again when I start thinking of my experience as a female char in ffxi
