Will the beta be on PS3?

BellarionBellarion Member Posts: 244

I was wondering if people thought the Beta will  be available for PS3 players?

After all they could easily throw it on PSN or whatever for free download and  reg keys could be handed out a number of ways. Im not sure if the Beta was tested on PS2 for FF11.  I can't see that though.

I'm pretty sure the Japanese beta test came out for the PC. If I'm not mistaken, the hard drive didn't come out for the ps2 until the actual FFXI release.

Beta tests through the PSN have been done before and are easy to do. They may ask for more PC players because they'll be able to get both technical and hardware feedback.

I expect that they'll let some PS3ers test this out.

There's no need for a PS3 beta. If it works on their PS3, it will work on the other millions of PS3's.

But if it works on their computers, it won't neccessarily work on even 100 others. Which is why the PC will be the beta.

I don't think many companies host their betas on consoles (when they are available).  I don't think champions is.  I, of course, could be wrong about that.

I did not ask what you knew, Natuxatu, I asked what you thought. Your sarcastic comment was uncalled for, as I specifically asked for peoples thoughts. I did not ask for facts.

Thank you to everyone else, now I know that I could possibly benefit from beta testing FF14 if I choose to purchase a computer.

I wish to try out FF XIV on my PS3 when the beta version comes out (this September?).

It would give me a chance to see how FF XIV is currently doing, and therefore there would no longer be speculation on this forums, rather what is good or crap.

Also, it'll help me decide whether I get a USB Keyboard or that keyboard attachment thing that you can put on a PS3 controller.

Keep in mind that FFXI had a short beta prediod prior to the release of its Xbox  port; after the beta ended those characters were transferred to the public servers. Point is, they're very likely to have a ps3 /pc beta in which they test how the 2 interact with eachother, and if the different ps3 models play the game at different speeds/qualities.

I bought a full-sized usb logitech keyboard for ~$60 and use it almost exclusively unless I'm soloing with nobody to talk to. I never tried that controller-keyboard, but it looks like crap to me. I was tempted to buy it, but at least you can use a usb keyboard for more than just your playstation.
