After trying both, I like the Asmodian lands and capitol city better. However, Asmodian levels more slowly (significantly larger travel time related time sinks if you do the quests). So, the PvP advantage on new servers will likely go to Elyos, as they will probably be able to send parties of greifers through the rifts earlier than the Asmodians.
Edit: Was going to go Elyos because The Remnant was going to be a Elyos only Legion, but has since opened a Asmodian division. I perfered the Asmo, so that is the side I'm playing on.
Since most people will probably go Asmo, I'll probably go Elyos. I just got drawn into the hype of this game, and upon visiting Aion's website, i noticed that there is a third class, the Balaur. How come nobody on here is choosing this faction? Is there something that I don't know about?
Haha and I just found it funny how peoples' motivation for choosing a faction is choosing the one that nobody else is choosing. If that's the case, how come no one on here proposed to Balaur yet? If there is nothing negative about them, I'll choose this faction .
Edit: Whoops I just did mor research on the Powerwiki and figured out that Balaur is not playable. What are they then? How come they're listed as a 3rd faction on the websites?

I played both factions on CB5 last weekend. Split the time 50/50 between the two and have to say I enjoyed the Elyos MUCH more. Found the people much more friendly over there than on Asmodian. That's my main reason for going Elyos.
