in Final Fantasy XI

im probably going to buy this game, but before buying it i was wondering if someone could answer a few questions.

1) is it true that once you cancel your account you cant re activate it using the same game? ( meaning do you have to purchase another copy)

2) is it like the other final fantasy games where you cant actually see the enemy creatures, instead they sort of just attack you when you're running loose and you're forced to fight them? i hope not.

3) how is the lag? can i enjoy the game with cable??

4) What is Square Enix doing about cheaters? do cheaters get caught??

5) Are the Pc and PS2 graphics the same?

6)and also i was wondering if its true that you have to add more to the monthly fee if you want to have another character? how many characters do you start with??

    After 3 months ur chars get deleted... just like it was with EQ

    Nope they are all there in visual range.

    Oh yeah, but u gotta have more than a good connection, need a good PC... don't play on PS2, uber lag... and infact ps2 players cause other people to have lag if they are near by... It was one of the most stupid ideas putting ps2 and pc on same servers

    Yeah, slowly... they are taking some of the gil sellers to cort.

    5) Are the Pc and PS2 graphics the same?

    Yes.. IF you have a shit pc.. If you have a good pc then no. PC will always be better than any consol.

    You start with one character, yes you have to pay for more characters, $1 per char... Its a bit cheap but when your main character can change to doing whatever job you want the only thing you have your extra chars for is mules.

    Only buy this game if you have alot of free time, and also if ur in america.. If ur in the UK ur going to have to wait till about 1am to get a group alot of the time, depending on race and character a little i spose.

    thanks alot for the help i think im going to buy the game on pc after all. i live in turkey though, but i'll buy it anyway. but about the lag, im intending on playing Final Fantasy XI on this computer which isnt shitty ( definately meets the system requirements ) but i do experiance lag (especially when i played star wars galaxies on a free trial account ) from time to time therefore im planning on installing Final Fantasy XI on my new computer which i'll get in a few months, would it be possible to install my final fantasy XI ( not buy another version ) and play it on the other computer using the same account??

    also id like to know how much lag their will be using cable connection if its not to much trouble.

    well you haven't supplied how fast your cable connection is... and lag is caused more than just by your internet connection... for one there is video lag, and also there is the lag that gets generated by having people who are using PS2's to play the game that are nearing you..

    My cable connection is 750kbps after a free upgrade from 600kbps... both speeds revieved minimal lag.


    Yes you can install the game to 2 computers... a friend used his account off my computer, its just a case of putting in your sign in information.


    Your new computer... whats the spec? If your thinking of saying Pentium for the proccesor stop there and rethink your actions. Read up about processors and realise how shit the pentiums are.. and then go for an athlon 64 3400+ or later. But yeah whats the rest of the system your going to get?

    well, i've seen higher-mid end intel cpu's play the game flawlessly, but yes amd athilon 64 series are much much better and you can pick them up for as low as 120 bucks pretty good for an awsome cpu make sure other things such as your memory is at least 256mb and your graphics card is up to snuff but mainly it is what type of internet connection you have although a friend of mine plays it on a high end sony and the lag on it is not all that bad just mainly in places with a ton of people. ohhh and be prepared for the massive patch which took me around 10 hours with dial up to download.

    I just wanted to clarify this one a little more for you. Do NOT cancel your playonline account. This technically is free and if you do you will need to buy a new game. If you wish to stop playing and not be billed cancel your content ID (this is the thing that is linked to your character). Cancelling this will allow you to come back and play the game. (If before 3 months your same character, or after you can create a new one). Hope this helps!

    I don't seem to get lag and the people i play with who are on the PC don't lag, and i'm using PS2 and a Cable modem.  It just depends where ypu are and how many people are using Cable in your area.

    i play with a pretty outdated system, very little lag too. I have DSL internet and i did lose most of the smoothness of the graphics but the gameplay went smoothly.

    Dont flame me on this but i would like to share my 2 cents. I felt this game didnt appeal to me, first off being the whole combat system. Very frustrating to me after playing DAoC. The game itself is great but controls for me and the grind for it turned me off. Im sure youll love the game as does my brother. I also love the whole class idea. So i hope you have a fun time playing im sure you will i did while i was playing just small things kept getting to me. I also know you can change the keyboard settings dont worry
