Hey guys, I just wanted to get some input about the quality of the parts I have chosen so far to use in my pc. Please note that I live in Canada and things are in Canadian $$.

That is expensive for a Steel mid tower, you can get a full aluminum for that price (if not $10 more)
everything else looks great, especially all together
one thing i would say is that you can get 2x 320mb WD Craviers for about 1/2 the price of the V-raptor. Put them in Raid 0 format and you will get better performance, and more stroage than the velociraptor
Gamers should look at in this order Case, Cooling, Power Supply. Spend the extra money on a full tower case and as much cooling as you can get in it. The Power supply looks ok i might go with 800 watt one. Heat is the number one threat to a gamers comp.
MAGA
I just love my cooler master 830 stacker check em out.

the thing to remember is that some GPUs require a specific amperage other than a sufficient wattage. the Toxic card is a real good GPU. check the specs to see how many amps it requires, especially if you plan on CrossX or SLIing later on.
that card is 200 bucks at newegg. also check newegg for combo deals you may save a ton of money.

Looks great to me, AMD rocks!

The 200 dollar card is the 4870, the one I had chosen is the 4890, I am however just considering on splurging on a 4870x2 or a GTX 295, I just can't decide which one would be better at this point.
i misread that. if your going to splurge go for the 295 is the best out there right now. plus you wont have to upgrade for a long while.
really depends on what your looking for. even the top end games right now arent utilizing the full capabilities of even the top 5 GPUs out there.

the 4870X2, GTX 295 are SOOO pricey though. They are better, but not hundreds better then a 4890 or even a 4850x2.
yea they are but if you dont want to upgrade for a long time they are the way to go.

I wouldn't recommend using dual gpu solution. They can be more problamatic then beneficial. Pretty much the only games that use Crossfire and SLI are the graphic touting ones. In which case, a dual GPU solution won't be enough for the next iteration of a major graphics heavy game. They will be harder to cool, and drain alot of energy. If you are going to get a high end graphics card stop at the HD4890 or the GTX 285. Both will have comparable performance, and they will shine in their specific games. If you are using a 790GX board, then the HD4890 is the best video card you can get for it until september.
As far as cases go, big ones are easier to work with. Expensive ones are nicer to look at. The expense really depends on how you like the looks, and what cooling/options it offers. My last case cost $300, but its designed to internally hold water cooling or a compressar.
As far as your system goes, how it was in your original post looks great. I would wait until september to build for ATIs next offerings, and Istanbul based Phenom Processors. Maybe a completely up to date motherboard. That one is 6 months old, and since then DDR3 has proven to be unbeneficial to Phenom Processors. So most have shifted to using AM2+ boards with up to date components.
For under $200 canadian you can get an oc 260gtx216,i got one and it plays all the newest games at high settings with my phenom II 940.
thats the card i think im going to go w/ now. i cant wait ot get home and start my new build. its changed so many times in the last month.

Personally I would take a P5Q with E8400 (intel). It has better score in games (not in multi-core programs).
It would cost a lot less but you took a good AMD Processor here no doubt.
There is some GTX275 that can be found for like 250 (OC BFG). ATI Is good too, looks like you took all my opposite gear hehe.
For the hard drive I would do a raid rather paying 269 for 300gig. A raid of 2 x 500gig would have better performance and space and cost like 100 $ (all in CAN).
My power supply is a Corsair 750TX and I'm really happy with it (2 of my friend bough it no problems). But this PSU looks good . You got a good PC but would defenitively not be what I buy.
For a 300$ processor I would go for Core I7 , its not that I am a Intel fan, but the benchmarks talk for themselves.
Where in Canada you buying from?
Where you getting your stuff from. Newegg has the cpu for $199 and you can get a 4890 for about $200.

Korvenu has a good point there. I personally use this processor and love it. I have no need for an I7 and even the 3.2 quad core is a bit much for games to be honest. I also currently have a 4890 and it runs all my games with ease. If anything i can buy another one in 5 or 6 months for 100 bucks and put them into crossfire, stretching my rig to go another year and probobly then some.
