If you delete your character they can't be expected to just recreate it for you. 99% chance your account was hacked and your char robbed and then deleted.
Blizzard can restore deleted WoW characters. I've had it done myself.

I didn't say other companies couldn't. I said that they shouldn't be expected to. You would be surprised at how few companies will restore deleted chars, and how long they keep this data if they do.
I don't think it is a game companies responsibility to make sure you aren't an idiot with your password, or installing keyloggers. It is nice and I hope most keep up with this, but again I don't think they should be expected to.

Awww why did you skip over post 26 of this thread? Is what I said impossible? Are you above the rest of the human race?
Here I will quote it for you in case you missed it.
You know it is possible to be honest. Trench could have been paid off to post negatively on DFO, it is possible. You could also be someone Tasos or AV paid off to try and do damage control over here on MMORPG.com, that is also possible. After all, there is a lot of money at stake. Wouldn't it benefit AV if people believed that MO had paid off DFO fans to post negatively about DFO? Then all negative reviews and comments would be questionable. Not saying you were paid to come over here and try that kind of thing MMO_Doubter, just saying it's possible and that I'm not naive enough to believe it isn't.

Indeed. That is also within the realm of possibility. I must have missed your previous post. The thread is quite active right now.
As for being above the rest of the Human race - not ALL of it, I'm sure, but the great majority, yes. You DID ask.

I disagree. I think it should be considered a standard service now.

So you think that every character anyone creates and deletes should have their data saved in a database somewhere? Many people create and delete tens to hundreds of characters in these games. I wouldn't expect a company to keep that much data constantly stored.
I could see maybe keeping the data for 1-8 weeks, and maybe only keeping the level and character stats, but expecting them to store everything associated with the character from mail to bank to auction items is asking too much. There is a reason there is a delete confirmation.
I guess though if I was hacked and lost my char I would definitely want it restorable, but again I don't expect every company to support this. Hell Square Enix with FFXI deleted characters who weren't active for a few months which really seems archaic.

Thats better! Alright so now that you have stated both are possibilities, which seems the most likely?
Trench has been a long time member of MMORPG.com, Trench has seemed to enjoy DFO a good bit and has defended the game a great deal on these boards. Lately though he has been running into problems many of us have ran into ourselves with the game. His negative experiences are backed up by many that have ran into the same negatives in the course of there gaming experience with DFO.
You, well I don't know you. You're fairly new to the community. Yet you are asking us "Isn't it possible he has been paid to say DFO is bad?".
Which of the above is more likely to be a shill out of the two of you? Not saying either are, just going with the possibility thing since it's the basis of your posts on the matter.

Yes, it does. I'd wager that it won't be so limited for FFIV.
8 weeks seems reasonable. Perhaps a sliding scale based on character advancement. With a limit as to the number of characters preserved.
There ARE good reasons why people need characters restored. A friend of mine had his characters wiped by his ex-wife. Now, I personally wouldn't let anyone have access to my account, but women often use emotional blackmail to force us to share personal info as a sign of trust.

It would be more likely that I was. I agree. Your logic is sound. Sometimes, however, the unlikely proves to be the truth. However, I think that if I was trying to defend DF, my first post in particular would have been less ambiguous. Read it and tell me.
Feel free though, to peruse my posting history. Not saying that is proof of anything but that I have interests in more than just DF.
"" Voice acting isn't an RPG element....it's just a production value." - grumpymel2
It works both ways haters. You're quick to point out I've defended the game when you want to support a negative post, but you completely ignore the negative posts I've made when I go on to defend some aspect of the game. The truth is I just tell it how it is and don't have an interest in blind hatery or propaganda on either side.
Just for clarity's sake.
What some of us were defending was you personally... not your opinions of the game... which as you probably know we disagree on quite frequently.
For me anyway, there is a difference between the two.
Darth Raiden: "Oh my Lord Tasos, Trenchgun has turned on us, he just posted on mmorpg.com that there is a hacking problem in Darklfall"

Well true or not, it's easy to test, delete your character and ask AV to restore them, you'll see for yourself.... If that's indeed true, it's really pathetic. Did they not keep backups ? Geez i had a 3 years old deleted character restored by Blizzard in WOW within 1 working day. If AV cant restore a few days old character they have a serious problem.
Originally posted by Zorvan You've got to be fuckin' kidding me. It's official people. Darth no longer holds the title of "Darkfall's most delusional".
As I said - a lot of money is at stake.
People have done far worse and less likely things for money. People involved in MMORPGs are not separated from the real world.
What money? There is noone playing DF.. AV is barely making 100k a month and if they still have those " 30 devs " that means they are making a little more than 3k a month each ( I doubt if they ever had 30 workers ).. So lets assume they lied about that and say they have maybe 8 devs.. That is what? 22-23K per person? And that isnt including the loans they have nor other bills..
There is no money here.
The only question left is... Where will AV flee to next to escape the collectors like they did once before?

Grand Cayman, or maybe they can join the NPCube and Farcelan guys on Reunion Island and make a new game from the parts of their other failed ones. How about Deceit-n-Fail?
What got my attention was the mods wording, "Ok what you are describing cannot happen. Closed."
A normal game moderator would say, "Please contact customer service." or "we will look into this." but to totally dismiss it and say it's imposible is awfuly fishy. I would like to see where this goes.........

I've dealt with engineers and FSR's who have flat out said "that can't happen" when describing an issue when we were field testing some new equipment or doing a mod. I've even had to take a picture of the equipment in question and email it to them before they would believe me. Based on what I've read about AV, I don't find this all that shocking.
LOL @ the fanbois in this thread questioning Trench's motivation. I'm not even a regular on this forum and even I know he was a fairly staunch defender of Darkfall.

Yup Av placed them in charge of moderating their forums according to their rules but at the same time AV has no responsibility for their actions.
