Hello...
I haven't had to upgrade in a while, but I can see that my system is on the low end these days and chokes a bit on new games, so I'm starting to think about it. Firstly, here's what I got:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66ghz
4 GB RAM
GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB
running Windows XP Pro
I'm trying to figure if it is worth upgrading the video card on this system to something like a GeForce 9 or GTX 200 series, or will the processor still hold it back too much to get any value.
Comments
the geforce "9", and even the 200s are all pretty much rebadged and not a Significant jump from you 8800... unles you get the $300+ version of it lol
Wait till 300 seires and get teh "Mainstream" version of it. (DX11), you cpu shouldnt bottle neck too much... may be worth getting a 8400/8500 though
thats just my 2cents though

Can't agree more. You wont see a substantial increase to be worth 150-200 bucks to get a 200 series. Like Tibz said, just wait a couple months until The DX11 cards come out and snag one of those... If your not looking to spend that kind of money it would also be a good time to get a 200 series for around $120 once they do come out.
As far as the processor goes your fine for a little while longer. Maybe push it til the I7s price drops if your an intel fan.
Windows7 and a Radeon HD4870... enough said!
