Looking for Community/Meeting Friends

So here I am, bored, looking for something to play again. I have a lot of free time it seems and can't find anything that suits my fancy. What I've noticed so far, and what is a common reason for many who don't stick with a game, is that I don't have many friends who play MMOs. I remember back in the early days in SWG where the community was incredible, and I still have plenty of people I communicate with to this day. I basically want something like that. Anyone who's feeling inviting and willing to bring in a potential newbie to come play with them, give me a hollar. I'm basically just looking for a game where I can have fun and actually play with people instead of soloing through everything in an extremely self-centered MMO, haha.
I've been down just about every MMORPG road, so I guess I don't really need to make a list of games I've played. There are even some guys I probably wouldn't mind re-subbing to, so feel free to post anything

If you are bored and looking for online folks tot alk to check out metaplace, lot of gamers there from other games, killing time and what not.
I miss the same things - back in the early days of EQ1 and UO seems like the games (and players?) were much more naturally social.
I'm not looking for a chat room really - I want something to DO in the game, just as a group or team. Newer games don't seem to cater to that playstyle, and unfortunately many of the older games are difficult to get into with all the older players being head and shoulders above; you can join their guild but you can't really group together or perform joint tasks due to the experience or level discrepancy.
Here's hoping Mortal Online, FFXIII, or maybe the new Starwars MMO can bring people together again.
