For those in the northern hemisphere

The Perseids will be peaking around tomorrow night, so if you want a chance to catch quite an amazing meteor show get yourself outside the next couple of days and hope for a clear sky!

The peak of the Perseids means about 60+ meteors/hour which is a pretty good light show.

Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man. -- Bertrand Russell

Welcome back! Try and behave yourself this time.

As for the meteors I'm hopeful I'll get to see them. I live in Maine though and our weather is quirky at best. It's been raining off and on the last couple of days but hopefully it will be clear tomorrow night for the light show.

Oh yeah I should clairify: when they said August 12th they meant basically from midnight to dawn so here in a few hours its going to start picking up. It will probably be like 1 or 2 AM EST or EDT I don't know if we're under DST or not.

edit: forgot location they get their name for being around the constellation Perseus so keep your eyes pointed toward that.

All night (and all last night and all today) from the northwest.

So probably just the North for you.

I caught about 50. It would have been much better without light pollution.
