Final Fantasy XIV expectations: Beautiful new enviroments that I'm sure we have all seen on their official site by now, a more balanced/controled job list (to many jobs available for my liking on FFXI), a small glimpse of some controlled and restricted PvP for those who enjoy the occasional conflict of nations, a battle sequence system that all levels of players can use and understand (final fantasy is famous for constantly changing the way fighting takes place), and even though they have already announced the races that are currently available, I have this one hope of at least one new race being added to our list of current races. Let it be known I do understand that the races being announced are "new/different" races per say. But lets get real, they are the same loved/hated races we see already in FFXI. Please post all your hopes and dreams for the near future for this amazing game we all can't wait to be released.

All that I hope SE does is bring a new and exciting game experience to the table and be successful. I'm so tired of games trying to make games to compete with WoW.
If you build it they will come.
The only thing i expect of FFIV is something that Square_Enix allways does for me. that is give me a classic FF expierence in a new world and with a new story.
I want to feel like a noob again. I'm expecting to indulge in a new refreshing epic adventure/storyline, meet new friends, and make more mmo memories, and also have a lot of fun with the new job classes / skillup etc...
"Classic FF experience," I like that. It's hard to go wrong with Final Fantasy. Even though the RPG and MMORPG versions of Final Fantasy are pretty different, it still has that FF experience built right into it. I agree, Final Fantasy is famous for following its own path and sets a different standard for MMORPG's to compete with. As long as FF keeps it's "classic FF experience" im down with playing it and I really can't wait.
From the info released so far I think the most likely outcome is a merging of FF11 and WoW systems along with a few new concepts. With FF11's Fields of Valor and the FF14's Guildleves it's pretty obvious that S-E has noticed areas where WoW has suceeded and will likely copy all the things that make solo play easier. FF13's "retry" feature also shows that S-E is willing to make games less punishing. Graphics are obviously a big improvement.

My expectations:
1. A classic FF experience (love that phrase).
2. Game remains group oriented for the most part. It is also not "grouping soloists together," it's "grouping group people together."
3. Solo play sucks compared to group play. It's there if you can't find a party, not so you can beat the whole game by yourself. That would ruin group aspects, you must not be able to solo the game entirely.
4. The "neutral roles" retain the feel of classes from FF XI, but there's a bit more customization.
5. You can switch weapons anytime, but there's a penalty if you do so in a party or a battle.
6. You can't switch gear when in a party or when in battle. So if you go into a party wearing mage robes, then you decide you want to tank, well, should've thought about that before you rushed into a party, shouldn't you?
7. "Jack of all trades" builds would suck, you eventually have to choose a few professions that you would be a little more dedicated on. And, if you dedicate yourself to certain roles, they could open up to new roles (for example, if you worked on Swordsman and white magic abilities, you eventually unlock the Holy Knight tier).
8. FF XIV's community retains the feel from FF XI. I'm afraid that will disappear somewhat in FF XIV because SE is aiming to attract the casual and solo crowd (not to be biased, but that crowd tends to wreck communities). Basically, if you acted like an ass on FF XIV, don't expect to be in a party anytime soon when word gets around about your behavior.
I expect to be captivated and pulled into the world for many years.
Personally I'm expecting that same great feel I got from FFXI that made it feel so real and so great. No other MMO I have ever played has the same feeling to it. But I'm also expecting a great new world to explore, new friends to make, and a ton of new gameplay. Oh and I'm going from playing a Tarutaru in FFXI to a Roegadyn in FFXIV so that will be different haha!
