while mage, have no problems what so ever killing mobs even several levels above and not taking any damage
was hoping to go assasin, but if scout have hard time killing mobs, how can it kill players

Not sure what to tell you since my impression of the scout was a killing machine. Granted the mage in the first 10 levels is pretty much auto pilot unless your slowing spell misses. The scout gave me no trouble killing any mob or quest objective. Even the boss in the last mine quest I killed before I realized I needed to do the pillars in order so I had to kill him a second time without any trouble.
I'm only a 14 assassin, but so far my experience with it is decent. I haven't had a lot of problems unless I get more than 2 mobs on me at a time. So as long as you're upgrading your gear constantly you should be fine. But it's a fun class overall and I have faith that it'll be good at 50.
Also, I have read that they get A LOT better once you hit 20.
Early on scouts will have a hard time leveling, so will assassins and rangers till they reach level 17-18 when it starts getting a bit better. After level 26 is when you will see the dps for assassins out pace that of a sorcerer.
How are casters endgame in terms of soloing ability?
ok thx
im level 7 mage and level 5 scout and difference is HUGE
Are you using a sword offhand for your Assassin?
Sadly having a dagger in your mainhand and a sword in your offhand makes all the difference. It makes levelling a scout and an assassin 10x easier.

use daggers in both hands..
You need to play over lvl 25 to really get the idea how the class plays.
At lower level assasin is hard to level, it start to spread his wings about level 20 and until lvl 25 lacks many important skills.

Well, if you get a sword in your offhand you will immediately see a difference. I levelled my first scout with dual-daggers and my second with sword/dagger; you'll soon learn why everyone sword/daggers at high levels.
Also, assassins get the fun boost at exactly level 16. That's when your 'rune engraving' actually does something useful. Up until then you start to feel slowly weaker compared to other classes.

Assassin is the weakest/hardest class to solo PvE in the game until the late twenties/early-mid thirties. Mage is the easiest for quick killing, but needs some rest. Priests are the easiest non stop but kill slower.
Assassin is the hardest class to play in this game.
From what everyone else has said that's rangers by far, actually. Assassins are fine. Rangers are a bit dodgy but I love 'em.

Maybe I missed something since the patch updates (even though we are still playing 1.0). I was under the impression that the assassin was the fastest class to level in this game. Supposedly it was the quickest class to hit 50 with several people playing it.

I've played both Assassin and Ranger to 30 and Assassin is by far more difficult than the Ranger. Ranger is really easy, it's just kiting and past 25 you get the knockback skill so it just gets easier. An Assassin you have to time your stuns just right to keep 100% nonstop killing.
Just curious Fast, how big of a money sink do you find arrows at that level? Is there only one level set of arrows?

both scouts suk just play you mage for the easy win
For the first 10 or so lvls, you will find the mage to be much easier to lvl, however after that (and the first 10 lvls really aren't that bad for ANY of the classes) you will find it shifts.
Ranger and assassin get a pretty good amount of sustained DPS, and they don't use up much mp / stam so they can keep going and going and going. The thing you need to get used to, is how to use your counters until you get more staple skills for each of the scout classes. I.e.
For the ranger: Expect to melee a lot the first 15-20 levels. You can pull w/ your bow (you can even try kiting), but it's often fastest to fire off a few shots w/ the bow, then finish up w/ melee. Don't forget you can use your evasion skill + counter attack to stun a mob, then run behind them and use backstab for a lot of damage. Assassins can do this too.
For the assassin: I used to hear a lot of people saying how bad they were PvE, once I tried one I never looked back. You should have no trouble killing with this class, especially if you have a high amount of accuracy. Don't forget to use the manastones that seem to drop a lot either. They help a lot. For the assassin you can either charge / backstab your way into a fight, then proceed to slice the crap out of them. You get a couple attack boost buffs, so use them constantly for high dmg numbers. In beta I was hitting for 200-600 dmg at lvl 11 with my assassin (depending on crits). I couldn't do that with my sorc or spiritmaster.
Really the biggest difference I noticed between the scout and mage classes, was the downtime. Mages can handle multiple mobs better, due to their superb CC and high damage, but the scout classes can do better dps, and have minimal downtime. You just have to make sure you don't get many adds, or you bring a friend. Keep a stock of bandages with you (they are cheap) and you can go on for a very long time as a scout, where as a mage you'd have to rest constantly or burn all your money on pots and food (money in this game is pretty tough to keep).
No, dagger MH / Sword OH is proven top DPS.
You gota think not only about killing but survavility... mages will probably die faster in pvp due to their weak physical defense
If you watch The Karate Kid backwards it's about this karate champ that just kinda slowly becomes a pussy and ends up moving back to Jersey

Not sure if what your saying is proven Nadril, however I know my scout/assasin was doing more damage with swords in early stages, from what I understand you dont want to switch to daggers until later in level. Now Rangers might be able to get away with using daggers more since they are range focused. Thats just my $0.02
