Looks like Funcom might finally be ready to start talking The Secret World this year. If you've been following the game, you'll remember The Secret World's creator and Game Director, Ragnar Tornquist making mention that we'd hear quite a bit about The Secret World in 2009.
Today, Funcom announced that they would be doing presentations and one-on-one interviews for the game at this year's PAX Seattle in a news bit over at IGN.
PAX Seattle will run from September 4th, 2009 to September 6th, 2009, and Funcom will be presenting The Secret World, as well as conducting interviews for the game pretty much round the clock for every day of the event.

I just wonder who will ever buy another funcom product again after what they did to aoc (and earlier titles) ?
I can hardly describe the joy I'm having right now. Not even gonna try. But it's major.
Exciting times.
So the Hype begins, I could care less of any titile Funcom trys to hype. I will never try another one and will remind folks what there track record says.
MAGA
The concepts so far seem pretty interesting. Honestly, why care so much about AoC (AO start was even more awful and it ended up being a solid game), if The Secret World is entertaining and fun I will play it. However, I most certainly will not pre-order it.
"The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in."
make it a sandbox and i might try it
This game has great potential, and I'll definitely keep my eye on it.
But folks should DEFINITELY not buy it until a few months after launch. Folks who buy it and try to play day 1 will inevitably be disappointed.
All depends on whether they let the game get finished before releasing. The beta's will point that out. Much like SW:G was no where near finished when released (and for some bizarre reason a few people LOVED it that way....). AoC was also incomplete when released, but not as badly. AO was released in the early days of MMO's and their servers couldn't handle the load. They learned that lesson with AoC, but now we'll get to see if Funcom lets the game get completed before releasing.
I'm with most everyone else so far two launches both horrible if I would try the game it sure won't be until well after launch because all FC has shown the ability to do is hype up products no where near ready for launch and since they get away with it so often I don't really see that changing.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
Twice is "so often" in 10 years? Heh.
Dreamfall and The Longest Journey were certainly complete games when released. They just weren't MMORPG's.
MMORPG's are by their very definition incomplete. Looking for an MMO to launch in a "complete" state is a fool's game, and criticizing MMO launches as "incomplete" is myopic and and a waste of time. They are MEANT to grow and change and evolve over time. Play a console game if you want "complete."
Stability, however, is definitely germane to this discussion. And stability is something Funcom definitely has problems with at launches.
This is good news and hopefully Ragnar Tournquist and his team will do a better job than what Gaute did.
What I mean by "complete" is all the features promised to be in at launch, be in at launch, and working. Sieges, most PvP stuff, etc, didn't make it in time for launch for AoC, and it hurt them. You can't skimp on the end game at launch because there are people who consume content like crazy, playing 24/7 just to reach the "end" first. And then they whine when the stuff promised isn't there or working yet.
Just guys please refrain from condemning a game even before its most radical features are revealed. Yeah sure Funcom has made mistakes, and they did cost them dearly.Yes, there is a chance that they will make again similar mistakes, but until we see for ourselves try not to prejudice things before you have all the needed evidence before you. The concept so far is great, unique and avant-garde, some great ideas are growing inside it and responsible for them is Ragnar Tornquist, so we can't go wrong so far.The only problem is the management that Funcom is about to enforce , but isn't it possible that they have learned from their mistakes? AO even with a crappy launch is still keeping up quite good as far as i know so they took it lightly about this one.But on the other hand they sunk and will continue to sink with the mistakes they did with AoC.The market has become much more competitive and i think they realize that pretty well. When the $$ is dwindling there is no other way that think back and revisit our mistakes. No one forces anyone to play a game, but don't you think it's too soon to set your mind about how things will be?
Anyways that turn out longer than i expected :P
On the subject. PAX is just a few hours away and i can say i'm pretty curious to what are these so called revelations are going to be. Till Sunday i guess we'll have a much more concluded view of what is this all about.
