Worth buying?

I am really wanting to try out EQ2, I had played WoW for a while and obviously not now, so been just playing console games for the past 6 months or so. I am wanting to get back into MMOs just not WoW. I am looking forward to Aion and The Old Republic, but want to play a sweet fantasy gqame too and with the classes and races this game has to offer, how could I go wrong?

So is it worth a try? Maybe a free trial?

Let me ask you something... since there is a two week free trial, why didn't you just download it and give it a shot? You have nothing to lose and there was no point in posting elsewhere. If I think I'll like a game and they have a free trial, I just download it so I can make up my own mind. Seems kind of silly to go on a web site to ask if I should try the FREE trial, don't you think?

    Just go try it.

Everquest 2 makes WoW look bad and play bad too, but if you want a good mmo sign up for fileplanet and get a beta key for champions online.

Why is it we have at least 2/3 posts like this everyday on MMORPG?

    But as for an answer

Play it and see.... then make your own mind up

Make sure you play a trial first. The game is dying and not very good.

i haven't played it in awhile, but i always enjoyed it. but if you like to play on a pvp server, get friends quick. there's six classes that i can think of, in EQ2, that can track players by name. makes it damn rough for solo players, and small groups, when the roving bands of high levels keep tracking you in the starting areas.

In my opinion, Everquest II is one of the best games ever produced. It is also the game I am currently spending most of my time in.

My advice, if you decide to play, is to disable your xp at level 10 and take the time to just play the game. Experiance can be stupid fast and you will outlevel content before you can enjoy more than a small fraction of it if you do not disable your xp.

If you're an adult EQ2 should suit you very well, mature community & friendly folks all around. But if ur looking for PvP with teenagers (like WOW) I guess theres better game for ya out there.

Since you have been playing console games I'm going to assume that a game not having solid PVP is ok with you.  If that is the case I would definitely recommend EQ2.  While I no longer play it myself and can't tell you how the current server situation is, I can say that it's a beautiful game with plenty of content wherever you choose to start out.  I know that the experience curve was modified like crazy making it MUCH faster to level than it used to be.

The crafting in the game is one of my favorites only second to Vanguard's system if your into crafting.

The guild halls are beautiful and the personal houses are a nice touch.  I enjoyed decorating my from time to time when I was bored.

There are a large variety of classes and races to choose from (take a look at the site for more info I can't remember the exact number).

Gameplay is smooth and spell effects are perrrdy.

The community for the most part will be someone of a relief from the community you may be accustomed to coming from WoW.

For the price that includes all the expansions and adventure packs I definitely feel it's worth buying.

I'd just like to +1 this. Recently begun playing EverQuest II and it is by far the most enjoyable MMO I've ever played, especially with friends :)

i guess i would agree that the fanbase may have fallen some over the years.  However it is still a wonderful game.  The graphics give a more realistic feeling and are still among the best of any MMO out there IMHO.
