the wings are the best part of the digital CE.

You save 800k Kinah and get an extra 10 sec of flight time, over the normal level 30 ones, grated you replace those at 40, but still.

I got the Box CE cause I like what it came with.

All that for only $10 more? Hell, I'd pay 30 bucks more. That 7 days of extra game time is worth 5 alone.

It is worth it, i want to get the posters, the ost and the statue :) all for 10 bucks more, plus all the other in game items.

The 7 days is more, the time they hope it takes from the end of head start to you getting the game. Sounded nice though :p

er.. it seems as though u get the 7 exrtra days without CE. i think its worth the extra 10 bucks but i think when i preordered it it was $70 for the CE... lol x_x

To me the wings alone is worth the 10 bucks. Especially since every character on your account gets them.  If you max out on the number of characters you can create, you will save a lot of K. The other things are nice to have too.

The only reason I'm going to get the CE is for the wings

  • RobindetRobindet Member Posts: 22

At first, I only bought the CE because this was the only version vailable on Steam, but I really don't regret. I didn't even pay attention to the bonuses... and I didn't see the 20% experience boost of the preorder o: THIS will rock ^^ (The wings too of course ^^ )

I know this is a bad/stupid main reason for getting the CE but I'm honestly only getting it to feel 'superior' to people who don't have it.

Are the items one-time-use only?  As in, once per character, or will they be account-bound, like the AoC freebies?

the items are all once per character like all bonus items in all mmos.  the only downside is the dye sounds like its literally 1 shot per char so you cant dye whole armor sets, just 1 piece 1 time.  which when you want a set of all black gear kinda sucks, unless you have all black items except like 1 and need just 1 shot of special dye.  that was the annoying part of warhammers dyeing, all the good colors cost months of cash.

Im getting my CE for the wings, and encouraging my guild mates to do the same, saving almost 900k (depends on the ammount of fortresses your side has) at level 30 is critic for a good performance if your leveling is ahead the market, which we plan to.

Just so people don't get confused:

The Digital CE pre-purchase from NCSoft is the Only CE that includes 7 extra days of play time (30+7). However, it does NOT include a box or any of the physical items that come with a boxed CE. Just the in game CE items and benefits. The retail Boxed CE is about $20 more than the standard edition.

The Digital pre-purchase CE from NCSoft is good if you aren't able to secure a boxed CE, or don't care about the physical items that come in the box, but want the CE in game items.

A side note, NCSoft just added an option to upgrade a standard edition to a digital only CE edition for $10. You need to have entered a retail standard edition key (not the pre-order key, but the one that actually comes with the game) to apply the CE upgrade. So, if you've pre-orderd a Standard Edition and decide at launch you wish you had those CE digital items, you'll be able to upgrade through NCSoft.

The digital items aren't going to be very rare, as a result. The only limited quantity CE items will be the physical items exclusive to the boxed CE.

If at level 10 you get the wings that give +40 seconds of flight time.... that's a big deal to the crafters out there. It's a royal pain in the patooka to raise the aether(sp) gathering skill since you have to land, wait 3 minutes, take off, gather another node, land, wait three minutes...

Sure you have to wait even longer with the +40 seconds, but at least you can hit a full node and not have to worry about plummeting to your death (coughI'vedoneitcough)....

I'd have paid the extra for the flight boost. Which proves that if they (any developer) sell something, some nut will buy it.

Interestingly, when I bought the digital CE from Aion site just after the first CBT, there was no "$10 upgrade".

I'm seeing a huge contradiction on these forums. It is mainly the same players posting on most of the threads and after having read the "what will you do if NCsoft expands the aion store" thread, I was shocked to see people posting these thoughts on here. It was a unanimous decision on the aion store thread that if NCsoft allowed people to purchase gear with real money they would be outraged and perhaps even quit. I'm afraid I do not see a difference between that and this except that this applies to only the first 40 levels of your characters.

I'd like to see anyone justify buying the collector's edition for the wings (as many of you have said) and at the same time justify their outrage at the thought of NCsoft selling gear.

I'm still waiting for someone to argue their case

We don't want companies to dig further into the RMT systems, what NCsoft is doing has been done before by almost everyone.

Actually, the wings you are getting are the equivalent to the wings you buy when you hit level 30. They are also only equipable at level 30. Only real advantage you are getting out of them is the fact you spent real money instead of in-game currency (Which btw, they are a very expensive in-game!)

EDIT: Sorry, did'nt mean to say they are the equivalent. They give an extra 10 seconds of flight compared to the other.

the gamestop CE had its own exclusive item..some ring "ancient flame" or something along those lines. but i went ahead and got the box. i dont like the virtual version costing the same as the original physical copy. you dont get the ost statue or posters...just sayin, 70 bucks i want everything.

I can't understand why its so hard for people to READ and UNDERSTAND what they read.

  • SoupismSoupism Member UncommonPosts: 272

Yeah each store had it's own element for their ring. I ordered directly from NCSoft but I wouldn't mind bein given a choice.
