Repetitiveness - how does CO compare to CoH??

rsrestonrsreston Member UncommonPosts: 346

I love comics and CoH was a dream come true. But after a lot of play, I couldn't stand the repetitiveness anymore: going into the same map of sewers/warehouse/building/cavern-with-the-occasional-room/level-extension, beating all foes up and clicking on the shiny.

No puzzles, no alternative ways of winning, no surprise.

And as the same team is behind yet another super hero mmog, I want to know from those in the closed beta: is CO repetitive as CoH, all the way down to the last lvl?

For me, the biggest flaw of CoH was the complete lack of exploration.  Everything was instanced and related to missions or relegated to simple street wandering and killing a bajillion villains for very little exp or loot.

The game was fun, but only in small doses, which for me, meant playing for a month, cancelling for 3 months, then play for another month....etc.....etc.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

Well for those of us that enjoy PVP it appears they will finally give xp so hoping I can do a lot of different things to keep my interest

CoX got better later down the line when they brought in the epic pvp zone (recluse victory) & those nice bank robbing missions.

I always thought Villains side was more polished but it felt really grindy for *me* from 35-50. Was like pushing against a hurricane. Don't know how I made it to 50 on ym main and level 40s on others but i did

I know what you mean.  From what i know CO will be sort of 1/2 CoX 1/2 WoW.  w/ a little bit of the good parts of WAR, public quests (& none of the bad parts).

So it should have more exploration & connection to the world.  Hopefully.
