First off let me introduce myself as this is my first post since I have joined this group. I am Goaty a long standing Final Fantasy nerd that gets chills just thinking about a new MMO release. When FFXI was released in the US I was excited that finally I get to share my passion for the game online with other fans and share a world with real people and have different experiences other than the same game over and over. After about 4 years the game slowly died for the english speaking community (was on the server Fenrir was a DRG/SAM) so I moved on to World of Warcraft where I was into the hardcore raiding gig of things. With recent news of a rumored FF14 beta I quit WoW (was exceptionally hard for me to do) and started making plans to create a large community linkshell for the new game. And so here I am.
Onto the main topic. I am very much in advance forming a community website, forum, and ventrilo that will launch immediately after a beta date is released. In the meantime there are some things I want to come to a decision upon whilst we wait such as:
-Linkshell Name. I want to come to a decision based on what others thinks is appropriate, not just MY wants. After we have a large community we will have a "poll" on the forums and ultimately the most selected name will stick.
-Events. In FFXI as well as WoW I held server wide events such as Chocobo races, casinos, weekly lotterys, and silent auctions for end game items. This will help us become a well known "Linkshell" across the server.
-Raids. Yes, we will be very focused on the end game as well as the casual enjoyments. They have said that the end game content will be overflowing with new and exciting visual effects and fun.
-RL Gear. In WoW our guild had mouse pads, shirts, and hats with our guild crest and stuff for sale on our website (for when we buddied up at blizzcon) and just to flaunt around to other friends and show off our guild. This won't be immediate but you can bet I will be bringing it to FF14.
-Server. This is undecided as they have not announced what server names will be called. I assure you I will choose the best suited server for everyone.
-Jobs. Yes, Jobs. Helping out with things such as Linkshell Newsletter articles, coordinating events, RECRUITING, ect. Will get you paid in game. Of course there are no set wages or even a set in stone idea of payment in the form of in game money but regardless things like these would be helpful with or without payment. No good deed goes without payment.
-And More...
Currently I have well ~35-40 members right out of the gate. (FFXI/WoW/RL friends)
This is an open invitation to anyone interested in being a part of a large linkshell who will be working on progressing through the game and becoming knowledgable in all aspects of each fight, class, and of course the new quest lines.
Certain recruitment requirements may come in to effect come release time (such as age/maturity) But until beta, I welcome all in helping build a pre-release community.

Edit : We do not discriminate against anyones preference of platform either. Majority of us will be playing PC but since it will be cross platform again there won't be a problem for PS3 players either. Just get a laptop so we can hear your voice on vent :P

FAQ's
Why aren't the main site or at least forums active right now?
Currently paying out of pocket for server space through my work and of course for my webmaster to keep it updated with no beta announced seems unjustified. There will be unlimited bandwidth for streaming and downloads (LS Videos, ect). And of course, I don't want to temporarily use a free webforum as it looks very unprofessional. In a nutshell, as soon as a beta date is released and mass mail will go out with the domain name and all the information you could possibly need.
Will you be supporting other games?
Yes, as a "gaming community" we will also be sporting our name in games such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Modern Warfare 2, and quite possibly World of Warcraft. The main focus for the time being will be Final Fantasy.

So we have more competition for our guild. I think there's going to be a lot of FFXIV guilds and they are popping up all over the place. You guys have a great description and a great outlook on your guild.
I hope you guys do well and I'm sure that these early and very established guilds are going to do the best when the real recruiting begins.
I think we're in the pre-recruitment era.
And, we currently have 40 active members, over 124 registered users.
Yea surprisingly over the last 2 days of advertising the numbers increased exponentially. Being forced to manufacture my site much sooner than expected so I'll be on that and probably havea rough draft within 2 weeks. I don't wanna really consider it competition for members because when it comes to server of choice I will be trying to locate one that is not also trying to create a large community so people know where they need to go when they looka t starting on our server.
I am currently trying to get in touch with the leader of Rapture and possibly work something out with him to make an even bigger community but have yet to get a response. In all hopes though hopefully we can create one of the most well known LS in the game!

Yes, Rapture is going to be a super-community, we're going to be huge! But, yea, I'm a regular member, but what do you mean by making Rapture a larger community? Why would you want to do that?
This about this community is it will be sponsoring different games through my server box. This is just one game of many it will be supporting.
Getting US and World Firsts in WoW right now (see wow website) plan to do the same in FF as well as have successful gaming teams in MW2, Heroes, and SC2.
