WoW Store Availability

mandaymanday Member Posts: 291

Geeeeez... Blizzard really had no clue on how many boxes they would need, did they? Cuz its weeks n weeks later, Ive checked every store in my city, n still no friggin' box!! I cancelled all my subs to other games cuz I thought Id be able to play WoW like... immediately.

Every store I went to, I got responses like "Are you kidding?", "Har har" n "Youre not the only one." I finally found a store with a straight-forward response. Which was "Were not getting a shipment till Febuary." Isnt that lovely. So now, Im stuck playing a bunch of crappy L2 clone OBs, a really crappy cartoony lvl grind, n a bunch of flash games that keep me interested for like 5 min a game. All cuz I thought Blizzard had their act together.

BTW, Im in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Ive looked thru sites that ship to Canada, but I don wanna pay USD, n I keep telling myself "I can wait, I can wait.." Anyone else having troubles actually *getting* their game?

I live in Calgary, I haven't really looked around yet because i was planning to start playing around Feb anyways. I think the futureshop has them here but there selling them for $70 bucks and the compusmart has them listed on their webpage for $50. I think i better start looking to buy it starting early next year so i have it in my hands when i can start playing and paying the monthly fee.

    Febuary??? wtf?.

The devs make the best mmorpg around, or even the best game around(debatable), and the people in charge of making the the boxes dont start to waking up...A LOT of WOW is needed for the masses image

I have not been near a dept store since I bought the game. However when I walked in to the local Best Buy earlier this month they had 5 or 10 boxes on the shelf and more in the back I am sure. I also know that the local Wally World had plenty around the 1st because I was considering buying the game at that time, but decided not to.

As far as the best MMORPG ever, the best MMORPG ever comment a earlier poster made. You have got to be kidding, LOL.

I would not be surprised if Blizzard has put a hold on the number of boxes being produced until they figure out how to run the servers they have. I am on Uldam which is a low pop server and I still get the worst database lag I have ever experianced in a MMORPG since SWG's ealy days.

Based in Canada  and i know someone that placed an order last week from them and got it 2 days ago .

Mind you he lives in UK so the week delay was probably due to post time.

So try them since you live in canada.

I know the problem... you live in Canada.  There is not nearly the market in Canada that there is in the United States.  I found the game at the first store i looked at.  Why would Blizzard ship to Canada and make a small amount of money off of its games, when it could send it's games to where they would get sold quickly?

I certainly couldn't tell you.  Point is you are going to have to wait unless you get it shipped from an online gaming store :/ sorry.

Apparently they are getting sold quickly and that's what the problem is. Now they don;t have enough to sell to anyone right now so they have to wait, and wait, and wait.

I had no problem getting 2 copies of WoW.  You all need to move to Maryland.  Target, Best Buy, Game Stop and EB games all have plenty of copies.

Heh. Thats wat I thought too, I wouldnt mind paying $70 if I could walk into a store at that moment n get the game. The site says they have them.

So, super excited, I called the store closest to me, the site lied :( It was sold out. Called the other 4, sold out. :(

We really didn't need any smarty pants comments in this thread. I'll make sure i get out of my igloo jump on my dog sled and mush on over to the local trading post and hope they have one game. Don't worry they are selling here just fine.

Here in Michigan all the local stores are dry as well. Had no luck finding a copy, and definetley no luck finding one before Christmas. Broke my heart seeing parents look at the empty shelf, looking for the game, having no idea what's going on. image
