I still don't believe in this "dramatical" changes.... sounds like a market probe
PS Undead paladins are more reasonable than tauren paladins, after all, undead was lordaeron's people, the silver hand was from Lordaeron
I have the feeling that blizzard is finishing the grave of WoW, even after such demanded changes.... Everything feels very disconnected from the lore
nha i dont believe its probe!blizzard know the old world of azeroth is dying, and since the queen area is close to pretty mutch all the world of azeroth is a good call to actually make the world of warcraft evolve ,there would be no point in doing cataclysm if no player can see cataclysm lol.
dont forget these event changed the face of azeroth destroyed high-elf country etc
blizzard just cant afford to leave alone the look of azeroth
and i dont beleive its has a big job as some believe its just estetic, dont forget its blizzard we talk about
wow is their cash cow they cant afford to do half-hearted,espacially when you think about cataclysm all player have been earing about these event from almost the beginning of wow
so i believe it will probably be a close version of what mmo-champion state, but like always mmo-champion doesnt know everything i bet the best part will be said in blizzcon
Goblins Horde only? That's not going to sit well with many people, including myself. I understand the difficulties of keeping them neutral, but that could be worked around by creating 2 Goblin factions. Frankly, though, I'd rather see the Horde-Alliance system totally re-vamped.
Worgen? Yawn.
Good that the Classes have opened up to new races. Bad that my favorite long hoped-for Dwarf Warlock combination isn't on the table, if this preview has any accuracy. Still, lots of silly impossibilities like Human Hunter will be removed, that's good.
A BIG thumbs down to only 5 level increase in cap. Unless Blizzard plans on stepping up the Xpacs to 1 per year, this is just silly.
A big thumbs down to no new Classes. The Death Knight was a very interesting addition, and I hoped for more creativity along those lines.
Changes to the 'old' world? I get that Blizzard wants to make use of it, the older parts of an MMO tend not to be as the servers age, but this must be done with caution. Everquest 2 did this, and it was good, because it was a separate game than Everquest. However, many of the changes in the style of game play were made retroactive, and the lands and continents of the old Everquest lost their flavor. Not good.
Azshara L10-20? Hmm well there are superior parts to Azshara, I hate to see it lose it's flavor too.
It's all rumor though, and we'll know more in a few weeks.
Have played: Everquest, Asheron's Call, Horizons, Everquest2, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Darkfall
Undead Hunter? Gnome Priest?? What kind of BS is this? Oh GOD I hope this is just BS. I really really hope Blizzard won't sh*t over the lore so badly. I mean really - why would this even be NEEDED? It's NOT. Side note: why do the whingers want to destroy WoW? Why do people who hate lore play an RPG?
Anyway, what IS needed are new races (though the Goblins being Horde sounds extremely dumb) and NEW CLASSES to keep WoW fresh. An underwater race would be cool, as would a were-creature class that can act in whole new ways.
A cataclysmic change to the old world sounds cool (though another low level zone seems daft and unnecessary), but Blizzard needs to keep it in the lore and not just cave to those who think WoW ought to be Diablo/Quake.
I'll never understand why people want to homogenise everything about WoW. It's BECAUSE of the differences in races and classes that I want to play more than one toon. If you make everything the same it's just stifling boredom. 'What healer class shall I play? Oh... it doesn't matter. They're all the same in the end. What race shall I play... eh? It doesn't matter... they're all the same.' People who think the game should be some ultra-boring homogenised dull-fest are... well, I'm not allowed to say here. But they're not too bright and a threat to imagination and quality gaming.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
So I can't play the old areas, thus not level from 1 to 60, unless I have this expansion? Get real, this is full of crap :P.
Thats not how it works. Whenever a major expansion comes out, all the game world changes occur in patches before the expansion is released.

Don't forget: Wrath of the Lich King introduced the new "Phasing Technology". Makes perfect sense it would be used more extensively in future expansions. Currently it's only used in a small amount of quests, and the Death Knight starter area.
Most likely there will be a pre-Cataclysm Azeroth which looks exactly as it does currently. And a Post-Cataclysm Azeroth which has been flooded in areas, different npc's in different places and so on and so forth. All through the use of the "Phasing Technology" introduced in WotLK.
Personally, I see this news as quite believeable and I look forward to hearing the official announcement at Blizzcon less than 1 week from now.

Do you even know about warcraft lore? Goblins fougth with the orcs in the forst war on Azeroth. They still are allowed to service the horde by travel through zepllins and boat. Goblins if called upon by the horde leadership would join them so it actually fis the lore perfect.
I'm still not going back but if this is the expansion it does sound awesome for players of WOW too bad it will probably be another 2-5 years before you see it though knowing Blizz.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
If they only raise the cap 85 i would be disapointed. All the previous expansion raised it by 10, this could only means 2 things. Lack of content or artificial grind. For the rest it souds cool.
Blizzard selling out the LORE of Warcraft for numbers?it's all about the numbers baby,i can see this happening for sure. This is not something they can copy from EQ,so they are trying to actually think for themselves for once,i don't think they are capable of doing that !
SOE made a big change to SWG because they were starting to lose numbers,i am pretty sure WOW has become more or less stagnant,no new millions to add anymore the player base is dry,so they are trying to keep the player base they have. This sounds to me like a VERY cheap update, simply a move to keep more people happy,so this is why i totally can see this happening.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
It's Blizzard's lore, they can do whatver they want with it. If they come up with justifications for Undead Hunters and Tauren Paladins etc. then deal with it, doesn't matter if you disagree it's THEIR lore, not yours.
Anyone who thinks this forum or this community speaks for the true "feel" of the MMORPG genre is very sadly mistaken. We here are 1% of 1%, deal with it and understand they wouldn't be doing any of this stuff if they didn't think the 99% of people who don't come to MMORPG.com would think it was a bad idea.
Most players don't care about lore they want to have fun and have options, opening up some class/race restrictions and adding in two "fun" races like Wargen/Goblins is going to appeal to the VAST majority of the WoW playerbase.
If everyone on MMORPG.com and MMO-Champion and all the other sites left and stopped playing WoW because of this, they'd be down a few million players at most. Ooops, they still have more then just about every other game this site lists combined.
I think it is a GREAT idea to not introduce another new landmass because when they do that, the old stuff becomes obsolete. Outlands, who goes there anymore? Death Knights leveling. But if they change the world, including legacy zones and such it creates a whole lot more content for new players and re-rollers and actually "advances" the game over time.
I hope they go full out and completely change everything in the old world to focus on the new story elements, including even changing Outland and Northrend to match up with the new story arcs... but that's probably too ambitious.
Point is, until it's confirmed by Blizzard, stop whining. If it is confirmed as true, then rejoice or shut up, no one cares.
UO and EQ1 are still releasing expansions, EQ has a sequel and EA has other MMOs... WoW will be around for a LONG time and will have many more expansions, even if Blizzard releases a new MMO WoW won't die at all.

You think blizzrad will just implement classes for the sake of classes like other games ie; warhammer, vanguard etc etc. What class do u want now that is not already there a fuucking marine?
Those new classes make this sound more of a rumour than anything else listed. Most of those classes are like taking the lore, putting it on an old 5.25" disc, magnetising, printing using Microsoft works, and putting it through a washing machine.
All I can say to this is... YES! I laughed, but sadly enough this sounds so very true, the lore is being completely construed here and doesn't sound right at all; no matter how you may try to put it, this just sounds off.
I think the new class/race-combinations seem rather good actually, and despite what many say, even if they are real, they don't really have to break any lore for this to work
* Human Hunter - Humans can hunt, why shouldn't they?
* Orc Mage - Orcs have been using magic before, and it were the orcs that created and trained ogre magi, so obviously the arcane must have been known by at least some orcs, why not some more?
* Night Elf Mage - They used to use magic, but stopped, due to fear that they would lead the burning legion to azeroth again. Now that the burning legion is all over the place, why wouldn't they use the ancient magic for the advantage?
* Dwarf Mage - Dwarf have been using magics of different kinds, and having lived with the gnomes for some time now, they could have been taught in the arcane by them
* Blood Elf Warrior - they can fight..
* Dwarf Shaman - unexpected, but as some earlier has said; they used to be earthmen, so maybe some of them still comunicates with the earth-spirits, and then curiosity has taken over at led them to talk to the other elemental spirits.
* Undead Hunter - There are many implications ingame, that the undead (the forsaken ateast) can remember their living lives. Human hunter dies, becomes reanimated and is an undead hunter. not too far fetched
* Tauren Priest - tauren praises the Earth Mother, and have different ways to show that. Shamans speak with the spirits of the Earth Mother, and Druids tries to live in complete harmony with the world; why should it be implausable that some Tauren see the Earth Mother as a goddess? And then there would naturally be some priests of her as well.
* Tauren Paladin - The Paladin are religious warriors, who fight for the right and just cause, and as such they can tap into the holy and just light and manipulate it, the lore even says that hte light follows any person, as long as he believe his cause is just. And with some tauren seeing the Earth mother as a Goddess, it is likely that ther would be some of her followers, that would take up weapons, in an "fanatical" attempt to protect her.
* Gnome Priest - Why is everyone so bugged by this? Gnomes may not be religious, but they are infamous for their inquisitiveness, and they are intelligent. Their sole reason to be able to do magic so well is in there "can I?"-way of thinking, they begin to learn it, more for the reason of seeing it's potential, rather than actually have a specific goal for it's use, once learned. And since they already is able to control Arcane magic and demonic magic, they sure must have built up a lot of curiosity about this holy/light magic, which they don't yet control.
* Troll Druid - trolls used to be a nature/nomadic society, living of the land where they were, which just seems reasonable enough that some of them would try to allign themselves with the land they live off, as much as possible.

Everything spot on. Unlike many that keep talking about lore which they know fuuck all about, you actually know what ur talking about.
I like it, in fact I like it a lot. It's good to see the game focus really return to Azeroth. The only thing I don't like is the inclusion of more race/class combos...Tuaren Paladin? Undead hunter? come on. Lame.
Some of the class combos make plenty of sense and examples of them can be found throughout the game:
Human Hunter - Nathanos Marris, the first (and only so far) human Ranger.
Night Elf Mage - This is the easiest one, the Highborne are back, as we know from 3.2.2. We could also bring Illidan, a non-Highborne Night Elf mage.
Blood Elf Warrior - They always existed, Blizzard just decided to give BE's Hunter as a class instead of Warrior. Adding them now doesn't hurt existing lore one bit.
Dwarf Shaman - Wildhammer Clan dwarves.
Undead Hunter - Nathanos Blightcaller in EPL (has two pets, uber hunter?). Sylvanas Windrunner.
Tauren Paladin and Priest - The npc conversation that appeared in 3.2, where the tauren discuss having worshipped the Moon, but never the Sun. If Elune is the source of both Night Elf Druids AND Priests, why not the Tauren with An'shee and the "Light" of the Sun?
Looks pretty solid to me, can't wait to play a Worgen.

About the only thing they didn't throw in there, was any mention of flying in Old Azeroth....
Not that it would be a good thing, it just seems like alot of huge changes for just one expansion....
I think if there is any truth in this, I would have to say Blizz leaked this intentionally.....
