Thinking about coming back

I played DAoC for a while back in the day but I only have the gold version ( original Daoc and Shrouded Isles) and was wondering what would be the best way to buy the next two exp's? is there like a place on there site to buy a key and download the cd or anything or a value pack with toa and cat's in it?

As far as I know, there is no 'package deal' for catacombs or any alternate method of getting it aside from the store.  However, you can buy the DAoC Platinum pack (also from the store) that contains the original game, and every expansion prior to Catacombs for roughly 30$ I believe.

All in all, it'd cost roughly 60$ either way.  (Don't play anymore so prices may be a bit lower now)

So there is no way that I can buy just a cd key from mythic or anybody for cheeper cause 2 of my friends have the cd's I could use.  That's so gay.

The platinum edition is listed on Amazon.com for $10

You can get Catacombs from them for $26, so you can be up to date for under $40.

Mythic's license agreement with the manufacturer/distributor prohibits Mythic from selling CD keys.  It costs a lot of money to get the game to market, and there is a very limited market for these games.  It comes down to cost/benefit.  There is the hard cost of "tooling" the factory to produce the games.  These are costs that cannot be avoided whether they believe they can sell 10 boxes or 10,000,000 boxes.  Then you have soft costs (like labor) and overhead (like utilities).  An expansion will not sell more than the number of subscribers, and probably less as some subscribers will be inactive and others disinterested.  So, there is a hard cap on the number of sales expected.  All of this adds up to what is probably a very thin profit margin, and if Mythic were allowed to sell CD keys, the manufacturer/distributor would probably operate at a loss.  That's no way to do business.

Mythis gets it money for subscription fees, but one still must pay for development and production of the game.  If they sold the CD-Keys to people or simply gave them away then it would drive up the cost for those that already have the expansions.

At Best Buy you can pick up the plat version for $19 and Catacombs for $30.  You can sometimes from Catacombs on sale at places.  I have seen ToA for sale at places too.  Not too often.  Mostly game stores like Eb or Gamestop and I have seen a lot of them at CompUsa.  I would say that $50 is much better of a deal that the $130 it has cost me.  Unless ToA is in the bargin bin, then I think you will be paying about the same about of money if you get the Plat edition or the individual expansions.
