Okay here is the role play scenario;
imagine I am the biggest anal retentive idiot on the planet and you are tech support for Champions Online. You know how to fix the patcher issue.
I have told you I have Vista 32 bit, install to the C drive and the latest file planet file v9.20090815.6
Now rather than say "<install file>"or "Its simple, just swap the pigs in the one for the other" or something.
Tell me precisely something like;
Step One: delete *.*
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatchpiggs
Step Two: C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLive
Copy *.* (including sub-directory piggs)
Into
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatchpiggs
So that it will contain 2.08 gigs worth of hogg files in the root
and C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatchpiggspiggs
will contain 15.7 megs of hogg files.
Then restart patcher and it will register 50 mb to download, if it does not, then...
Some of you are tech gurus and can open ports on your router and check log files and its suficient to say "Look guys, its simple just adjust your buffers and files = 30 in your auto exec.bat file or whatever, but please pretty please, lets RP tech support and idiot for just long enough for me to get it. I can't be the only one who is frustrated by the instructions provided.
In the words of Chevy Chase;
I think you're all fu**ed in the head. We're ten hours from the fu**ing beta, and you wanna bail out! Well, I'll tell you something, this is no longer a vacation . . . it's a quest! It's a quest for fun! I'm gonna have fun, and you're gonna have fun! We're all gonna have so much fu**ing fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our GD smiles! You'll be whistling Zip-a-dee-doo-da out of your a**holes! I've got to be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to see a MMO! Praise Champions Beta!

I wish I could help but I managed to make even more of a mess of mine than before. I had the closed beta version and there was only 46mb to download, but it wasn't working so stupidly I did the replacing of the pigg/hogg thing and it started downloading 3.2gb, ack! But I'll try to atleast get you to where I am.
To get to only 950mb to download, do this:
-Install the latest fileplanet game download.
-Go to <install directory>Cryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatchpiggs
- delete everything in that directory so prepatchpiggs is empty
-Go to <install directory>Cryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLive
- take all the hogg files there and cut (or copy) them
-Go to <install directory>Crytpic StudiosChampions OnlineLivepiggs
- paste all those hogg files into there
-restart the patcher

thank you!
so what about this folder;
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLivepiggs
it has pigg files in it as well. Where should they be?
the ones in the Livepiggs folder should be replaced by the ones you copy in, I'm pretty sure. I deleted them first but they should just copy and replace

I'm pretty sure the files you cut (or copied) overwrite the files you are asking about, which takes care of it.
Ugh. "The files"? which ones?
The pigg files here;
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLivepiggs
or the pigg files
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLive
Both folders have them?
Should I end up with t he contents of one of the directories above (which one?)
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatch
or
C:Program FilesCryptic StudiosChampions OnlineLiveprepatchpiggs
Or in both?
I've been trying to do this since 10am, its at 1.7% thats after a reinstall of the latest File planet client.
Piggs and hoggs? Is this Farmers Online?
Seriously, though, I'm thinking of downloading the beta and have limited technical skills on the computer - if I do the huge 3+GB install, are there any specific problems I should be looking out for?
Thanks,
alan
