Some success installing & patching

After trying everything I saw a message here about a post www.champions-online.com/node/172968
So I went back and found a new email from fileplanet. Checking the file download link I found that the file was dated 8/17 today. I downloaded this file and installed it over my old install. After I completed that I reran the installer. This time it said I needed only 45mb!!
I'm patching now with the abysmally slow patcher and upto 25%. Needless to say this is way closer then I've ever been and dare I say it I'm becoming optimistic that I'll be able to see this game before bedtime! I'll report back if I actually finish.
lost connection at 38%.... going for round 2. Hopefully I made some lasting progress.
bloody hell it is starting over... 45mb left again.

I did same thing...got 35mb left...but cant get past that. I'm done for the night trying to work around this....I'll wait till they fix it, and eventually I'll forget about it and move on if it's not done soon enough.
What do ya know....ERROR 14 again! Restarted and started again from 0%

well they win at being cryptic about how to install their game.
too bad their company name was not "easytoinstallSoft"
I am installing the .6 file over the .5 one now and trying to see what happens.
Got to 55% last time but now it won't connect to the patch server.
I get a popup saying error connecting to patch server.
And I get the following in the error log....
090818 05:42:27 1 MasterControlProgram[1] ESC : The patchclientlib is returning error code : 29
The net comm was not able to create a link for the patche

Well now I have some great news.
Found the following thread on the CO forums when looking to see if anyone else was failing to connect to the patcher.

The good news is that the file that needs to be patched is exes.hogg and the guy starting the thread posted a URL to download the file directly. So now I got the last file and based on file sizes I should be completely patched.
Of course you gotta get past the patcher to log in.... so till they bring the patcher back up I'm stuck.

Hmm looks like cryptic has a patch fix for the missing files or something... If you still need to patch go check out this thread.

haha even with the added file it looks like something still needs to patch. Need 14mb now... Hopefully it will be able to work for that long.
OMG it stopped at 99% 13.6/14MB is nothing going to patch with this damn patcher.

OMG I have a play button. I did the download again and it stuck at 99.1. I was pretty discusted and walk away to curse some outside. When I came back, to my amazement I had a play button!!
So it looks like the finally 1% takes a long long time!!
