free 14 day trial - now 8hr update

Hello, i just downloaded the 14 day free trial and that took almost 2 hrs. then went through all the playonline registration stuff.. now i get to the FFXI stuff and i have an 8hr!!!!! download for updates?!?!, lol can this be right? and is there a faster way to get the updates by any possible chance?

Its probably right and I don't think there is another way around it. This game always took forever to update, so sit tight and hopefully its all worth it for you.

Yea your basicly having to download all the latest patches and the mini campaigns plus SE never added the latest patches to their discs....srry about you having to wait 8 hours mine usually takes less than 6 between 4 and 5 hours. but i backed up my game so if i uninstall i copy the files to my external HDD. install the game and then copy paste the files back. also handy if you format your drive.
I can't understand why its so hard for people to READ and UNDERSTAND what they read.
just an update - it's been a little over an hour since it started updating and i'm at 44% so the "Time Remaining" thing seems a little off
goes faster then you think mine took less then 2 hours
well don't get too excited, it doesn't take too long to prepare the updates, but it takes FOREVER to do the rest.
(I think there are three stages: preparing, downloading, and installing.)
