Before anyone considers purchasing this game before release, be aware, Star Vault refuses to acknowledge any cancellation you might want to do should you change your mind and not want to buy it.
This is what is happening to me. I'm letting my credit card company settle the dispute.

TBH, I don't agree with their policy, since it is a pre-order, and they don't ship your copy until Sept. 1st ( or has that date been pushed back? ). You haven't received your hard copy, and there isn't a reason for them not to refund you at this point.
Fact of the matter is, you agreed to the policy when you placed your order.

Actually you can't legally enter into an illegal agreement. That is one of the basis of contractual law so give a damn what their web site says. They have not shipped so yes you are entitled to a refund.
Don't waste your time with SV, contact your CC company and inform them that you have not received anything yet.
There are time limits for shipping items after you have placed an order and they are legal limits.
Varies country to country but normally if something has not shipped and is not a custom order then your CC will refund your money no matter what some 20 ish CEO posts on some website as his "policy".
His policy has no weight of law and is just so many words written by someone that has no legal authority and apparently no legal background.
SV is just trying to protect themselves from players paying for the pre-order to play for free (OB) and then canceling so they don't need to actually pay for the game.
It's a bullshit trick done by the playerbase and I'm glad they are trying to stop this nonsense.
Be honest OP, You had no intentions of buying MO you just wanted the Free Beta invite right?
Playing: EvE, Ryzom
My CC company says since there is no product at this point, there is no contract. I did not buy any type of "license" as SV claims that is what you purchase. My CC company disagrees with that statement. My CC company went on to say you have a legal right to cancel your order any time before a product ships, assuming there is a product. Since I live in the USA, that is the applicable law, not Swedish law.
My CC company said they will be contacting SV to work out a solution.
Was actually going to post that lol. If you are from the US if you want to cancel all you have to do is contact your bank or CC company and tell them to reverse it. They will do so. You have a right to prior to recieving the product and there isn't anything that SV can do about it. Thats fact regardless of what anyone else would like to think. So sucks for those outside the US that want to cancel if thats not the case for you guys but for those inside the US thats how it works here. No product in hand means you have a right to cancel.
I'm not fully keen on what stage MO is at this moment, but if the pre-order comes with beta access and you've already been given that part of it at least, you've technically recieved the product/services. If you have yet to receive anything, well then you're entitled to a refund, but otherwise not.

I know the Laws here in my state says once u have PC game in hand and or download you cannot return it.So its probably the same law in his state..However, I don't know the law for return product in Europe..So he does have a right for a refund, if he does not have the said product..
Also note he will not get a refund if he applied and got into Beta..If he does he got lucky..
Mod.Correction
Some people rob you at gun point..Others will rob you at "Ball Point Pen"
technically they DID give you a product, if you downloaded the beta and logged in to play. I am sure that they can see you logging into the beta to play it......so yeah, you received a "product" from them, just not a finished one *shrug* they may get you on a technicality, who knows...
It's been stated multiple times that "You Didn't Pay for Beta"............ so..............
Aside from that the purchase was specificallty for a copy of MO. Thats what they offered. The shop wasn't saying purchase your beta access here. So no, until you recieve what you paid for "The actual game" no you haven't recieved the product.
yeah d00dz i bet $50 online poker last night and lost it then called my CC company and they said man F that bro we wont pay them either!

Actually here this may help explain things a bit better for you guys.
What Is A Chargeback?
Basically a chargeback is a refusal to pay for an item or service that you charged on one of your credit cards. There are a lot of reasons why you might want to do this. Maybe you never received the item, it arrived late, the item that arrived was not what you ordered, or possibly even because someone else took your credit information and made the charge without your knowledge. All of these are valid reasons to “chargeback” an item.
What Happens When You Chargeback A Credit Card Transaction?
When you charge something on your credit card, the bank that issued your credit card pays the merchant, and then sends you a bill. When you “chargeback” an item, the bank removes the total from your bill, and re-bills the merchant.
Too many chargebacks to a single merchant can actually hurt them because there is a “Merchant Black List”. Any time a merchant regularly exceeds their number of allowed chargebacks then thy are placed on the black list and are no longer able to accept credit cards.
So, what is my liability? Can a merchant come after me for a chargeback?
In short, yes. It is uncommon, but it does happen. In fact, there is an entire group of legal experts that companies can hire to dispute chargebacks. This usually only happens if you repeatedly chargeback to the same merchant, or chargeback a very expensive item that you may have been able to use before returning. In other words, the merchant will only come after you if they feel like you are trying to defraud them.
It is very, very rare for a merchant to come after a customer over a chargeback, and it pretty much always involves suspected fraud combined with a large amount of money. The current laws are set up to protect you, the customer. Businesses have a tough time fighting chargebacks because of this, but it does happen.
The more impotant parts are highlghted, read the whole thing though.
In Norway you can cancel the transaction anytime you want before you get the actual product(nope, downloading and getting into beta doesn't count). We also got this nifty little thing called Angrerett, or Regret Claim or something, that no damn publisher can avoid. If I didn't like said product I can return the damn thing and there is nothing noone can do about it.
Some shops and publishers try to bullshit themselfes out of it but then we just complain them in to what we call Forbrukerombudet, or The Consumer Ombudsman and the Market Council, and let them fix the problem. Been in argument with a few shops and publishers in my time and almost every time they lost their bullshit claims.
Heh, sometimes I love living in this country. Atleast we got somewhat sensible laws on the side of the consumer. Not to say we haven't got our share of bullshit laws too, one of my pet peeves is the law that force you to pay a tv-license if you got a tv cause of some out-dated law from WW2. They even tried some time ago to include webcasts and streaming into that so if you had a pc they could force you to pay too. That didn't go through though but government greed is always looking for new ways to tax us. Pfft, I'm rambling again...

OMFG!
NO REFUND!
So, guys common everybody! BIOWARE AND EA ARE SCAMMERS! They brake all imaginable laws!
Common! Let me hear your voices!
/sigh
tired of QQing wannabe lawyers newbs
lol if people that do the pre-order wish to cancel that as well they can. Not a hard thing to do, but I think were specifically talking about MO here.
And as far as wannabe lawyers, no need for those, plenty of lawyers have laid out the facts and there easily accessible for the general public. Oddly enough, you didn't try and counter or contadict anyones claims.
Yeah screw those insider trading, stock manipulating, evil Swedes. Blah, Blah, Blah!!!!!
You won't get your money back. I don't care what your credit card website says. I deal with this crap with my business everyday as a business owner. You knew what the timeframe was when you entered your information.
If you have people attempting to chargeback transactions against your business every day you have serious problems. People can and do make chargebacks sucessfully. Even when they shouldn't.
If you have a lot of customers then there will always be people asking for chargebacks..

Yeah I can garuntee this is false. I bought a T.V. from an electronic outlet store, it was a display model but a price that was hard to pass up. All sales are final. No worries. I get it home and it's nice. 3 days later smoke starts comming out of the back. I took it right back to the store and asked for a refund. They told me all sales were final on display models so I asked to speak to a manager, he came out shook my hand and asked me what the problem was. I explained everything and he told me the same thing, "Sorry all sales are final on display models" I said no worries and called my CC company up right there, explained the situation and started the charge back with the manager standing right there. CC company said they would take care of it yada yada. I told the manager, I'm getting my money back and asked if he wanted the T.V. back. They took the T.V. back and yes the money was put back a few days later.
Many people won't do a charge back because they are either willing to write it off as a loss or because they don't know they can. The laws explicitly protect the consumer and are very hard on businesses. So......... no, I don't even believe you own a business after a post like that.

Your example is not necessarily true with digital products, not saying it was bought in a different country, anyway it is worth trying.
You guys are a bunch of babies who seem to be new to buying things online. You knew there was no refund, you knew what you were buying, this is just a lame attempt at making controversy where no one but a child would see it as such.
Grow up. Read things you buy. You agreed to no refund and were told point blank what you were getting.
You are all stuck on stupid.

Actually, this clause in their agreement seems totally wrong as it follows a section about things such as duplicate charges "might" be eligible for a refrund.
All reimbursement requests must be sent within a week from when the loss occurred. After that time
we will not provide reimbursement.
Since I might not notice the double charge back for up to a month later, seems like a pretty shady statement to be making.
Perhaps it was only for this pre-order period.

Actually. I am with Mbw on this one. You pre-ordered so you could get into beta. I think this is your fault. I think if they can prove you logged in you should be stuck with the thing.
On the other hand, if Star Vault gets blacklisted by a CC co, I think it is their own fault for charging people to beta a game, it is a carrot on a stick that some people just can't help. Most large scale MMOs have large enough pre-release base to beta test their game. They should utilize them.
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.
Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside
Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.
