Please convince me to get EVE!

After the news of the FPS console game coming out, I want to get this game, I want to play it and I want to love it. Ive played it in the past and have an account, I just havent gotten back into since my computer crashed. I get the computer back on thursday and all my friends are saying "Hey man, get WoW! The new expansion is going to kick ass Dude!!!"
Please im begging you all, I dont want to play WoW, after years of attempted rape from that game I cant even stand the sight of it.
Im not asking for much, just bad ass videos, walk throughs, help guides, a good Corp site. Anything that will convice me, I thank you all for your time, and God's Speed.

New mini expansion coming out on the 20th supposed to give us good reason to join the faction warfare. Im looking forward to it. Oh ya and rigs are getting redone, to some extent... w00t!
I left WoW for EvE a year and change ago.
I left WoW because the gear treadmill blizzard puts you on feels hollow since the stuff you work for is replaced so easily.
I play Eve because the game makes me feel like everything I do is important to the Eve universe.
CCP won't release an expansion and make all my efforts for nothing and they wont charge me 49 bucks for an expansion that makes me feel worthless.
In Eve I can do whatever I want, Pve type stuff(Missions, Ratting, Wormholes, Plexing) or Pvp type stuff (Sov Wars, FW, Wardecs, Low sec roams and more) and I can even craft and trade and play the market.
I can play all types of combat roles from a Close combat blaster boat to a Passive armor tank drone ship to a Ewar (CC) ship to a Logistics pilot (healing) and so much more.
And I could do this all with one character!
EvE offers choices that other games just don't give you in the development of your character.
The Depth and complexity to this game is virtually unrivaled in today's MMO market with only older games like UO and SWG could match if they weren't changed for the worse.
When I left WoW I felt like I was cheated out of near three years cash, I felt that blizzard scammed all of us in taking a massive amount of cash and delivering the same amount of content of a game that made only 1% of Blizzards profit.
For me I wanted to play a game that made me feel like I had an effect on the universe, I wanted pvp to mean something and I wanted crafting to be the center of everything and I got it in Eve.

TBH if we have to convince you to play you don't 'get' EVE.
Seriously... there are loads of videos linked on the official EVE forums. A brief search on youtube for EVE pops hundreds of videos. A good corp site? Problem with that is what is 'good' for one person is 'awful' for another. It's important to pick a corp that feels right to YOU, not to someone else.
Just as an example... let's say you're a carebear....
I'm a PVP'er... I'm in a corp that lives, breaths and exists for PVP. Sure we carebear from time to time but 90% of our time, or more, is in combat. We don't live in player owned stations (POS) or even in player owned outposts. We live in npc stations in a region held by multiple alliances that are ALL red to us. We are in a state of constant war. For a carebear that sounds like an absolute nightmare. For most 0.0 residents it isn't much more appealing since it means they aren't in 'safe' space. But for us, we wouldn't have it any other way. PVP right at the undock sometimes.... PVP as little as 1 jump away.... easy kills, hard fights, we get it all. We also get blobbed and camped a fair bit too but we wouldn't have it any other way.
For a lot of players, even 'PVPers' this isn't something they want to do. For us? It's how we roll.
Like I said... if I told you it was an awesome corp I wouldn't be lying... but if you were a carebear you'd hate it.

To be completely honest I just want a glorified excuse, ive been planing on playing it when I got my comp back for months. I just like getting pumped up for a game, im not the type of person who gets let down, or switchs games every month so Its just like streching before a good work out. But I agree with you completely on the whole Carebear deal.

What blizzard did to the hardcore pvpers in wow by removing the ladder system is next to criminal.

but i hate this ffs..... we are not the marketing team ..... ppl should be self motivated to play eve and pvp no some scared carebear that stay in empire all the time

OP, this is the kind of community Eve has, bitter elitest wannabe's jealous of WoW's sucess. I would skip this game if I were you because most of the content is in player drama, alliances, wars, etc and the players suck.
I wish this game was single player, the community really ruins a great game.

ignore the people who have answered threads like yours 100 times. If you need help or have questions i'll help in-game. TBH the only thing about getting into eve is understanding it and getting over the learning curve.... To kill your first ship in a frigate or gang of frigates. Once you feel the rush, its hard to shake it. In-game name is Bunzan Cardinal, throw me an evemail when/if you get in.

I believe the reason why EVE people seem to be hard on people like OP is that the game is harsh too.
It was stated countless time that EVE does reward those who help themselfs, and the same is the community - on forums and ingame.
Most of the people expecting to be fed by the game or forum community will fail.

Nah there are a fair number of us who are fairly open and helpful. But I just don't get questions like 'convince me to play'. If I have to 'convince' someone to play EVE it's obviously not the game for them.
It's really just that simple. Either you enjoy EVE, or you don't. I don't believe in trying to convince someone to play a game. It makes no sense in the long run.

Its just supposed to be a post where people go, "Ah man well I love EvE because of this...", I mean obviously I can make up my mind, and have made it up offically today but I like "Pump me up" threads like this, because its just fun.

Haha, I could care less if people interpret the way I post something differently than what I had hoped. I expect it, and I am going to get EvE this week, and all those people giving me a hard time, just wait a little while and ill get you back for it in game.
By a little while I actually meant until I skill up enough or get a good corp.
