Don't hype up an MMO until it's out cause they always let you down.

WoW will be coming out in the next five years? Well, that should ease the minds of the 11 million waiting for it.
I probably wouldn't play any upcoming MMOs for 5 years. Most likely FFXIV would be 2 years, aion perhaps a year, off and on. Even WoW probably only got 2+ years off and on from me. I haven't had a game last me that long since EQ and Daoc which both I quit and went back a few times after long stints.
I'll try sw:tor, but I am not expecting much, and certainly not any staying power. I hope to enjoy it, but I think it will be a 6 months at most game for me.
Unless it comes from Blizzard.

To bad their next mmo will not be able to live up to WoW. They have created a monster that nothing will ever come close to again. WoW had a head start their next MMO wont. Only thing they will have going for them is the name "blizzard" that will sell alot of copies.
Time has made people forget about WoW's rocky launch. Blizzard will get a taste of the rotten fans that they brought to this genre. when their next mmo is not polished and content loaded, all hell will break loose. 1 sever crash and the forums will be ablaze with fail threads. It will be an Epic fanboy vs troll war of the like that none of us has ever seen before.
The darkfall forum was pretty intense but it will be noting compared to blizzards next MMO. I personally cant wait to see this war, I just hope the internet doesnt implode.

I can not pick a game I have not tested or played. When I do not have expeirance from game X myself I see no need to pick on, seriously how can people even consider that if they not played some of those games yet.
And well I been with games many MANY years I simply never believe in hype. I suggest everyone else do the same and eventually really start a hype when they have playing experiance with game X.
Unless it comes from Blizzard.

I am waiting for this so eagerly. WoW was designed and created by the old Blizzard, and the new one has been destroying the game and the lore for years now. The name built by the old one is the only reason people started, and then it reached a critical mass where more people started trying it out.
So many people have only ever tried WoW, and realized they love the idea of MMOs, which tons of people would if they gave them a chance. WoW got people to give it a chance, which is a mixed blessing. They now have millions of people, many of which are not good or mature people. They can be very loud and very annoying. Even a few years ago, before I quit the game, the moment something didn't go exactly as planned, the forums would be flooded with morons screaming. They are probably still full of morons screaming about class balance or whatever bug is up their ass at that particular time.
WoW has certainly brought more people to the genre. They won't stay there forever. Most of them are only there because "that's where everyone else is." They don't know about other games, they don't care about other games, and they don't come to sites like this to see what is going on the gaming world. Hell, most of the people I saw in the game didn't even go to the Blizzard or WoW websites to know when something might be happening in the game. They are people that are ill-suiting to MMO gaming, and that is one of the primary reasons they behave the way they do. People talk about WoW killers, mostly as a joke, but at some point, something will look shinier to people, and they will leave. When that game reaches a similar critical mass, and some of those fools start to leave, tons of them will. There will be a mass exodus, and it will be hilarious to watch. I just hope the game that takes them in is both a quality title and can handle the burden of so many such people.
But I digress. I am sure that this exodus will coincide with some delay or tiny mistake on Blizzard's part, and the whiny, immature players won't be able to take it. It will be comedy gold, and I want to bear witness to it.

The N64 taught me not be a fanboy. Four years of reading this site has taught me not to believe a damn thing I see about an upcoming MMO until it releases.
It only took me 1 year of reading this site. I dont trust a damn word out of any devs mouth, not even SE and I am an SE fan. They are all just as good as a politician when it comes to promises.
It just baffels me to no end how each and every forum is the exact same with fanboys they cling to every word devs say. I understand wanting a game to make them happy but throwing caution to the wind makes no sense to me. Has release after release after release not tought us ALL a leason?

The fact that Earth Rise is last is the reason why I'll pick it. (And why I didn't vote for it based on hype)
My next MMO will be a new launch that is off the beaten path.
None of the above because you specified I had to pick "from the hype". I don't listen to hype, I don't early-adopt games, I won't even look at a game until it's been "in the wild" for at least 6 months and the bugs are worked out. Then I'll listen to people who are actually playing the game to see how it works. Then, I'll give favoritism to games that have a free trial so *I* can try it for myself.

Meh bad choice of words on my part, I didn't really mean hype, just "more of the info we have right now" which alot of time is hype. So the real question was.

Given that, probably SW:TOR if I had to pick any, but again, most of the info that we get pre-release is all hype and people who are playing the pre-release beta are usually forbidden to actually say anything about the gameplay. I'll still give it 6 months.

I'm a sandbox type of player, so I went ahead and choose MO. I'll choose any skill based game over level based anyday (besides Darkfall)
Old Republic for me... but I'm biased.
If everything I hear is true, Eve is going to be one of the most fantastic games in the 2 to 3 years so I would keep an eye out on her for sure. WoW I believe to be a great game for the next 2 to 3 years and I also believe it's next expansion is going to be a MONSTER hit.
Otherwise there is a 3rd MMO that will be announced soon that will take a very top spot for me; from a great production house so I'm looking ahead.
In very last place would be STO; one word: Clusterf%ck.

I would laugh so fucking hard if Blizz new MMO fails, and when I mean fail it has normal subs like the rest of the games out now. Blizz got lucky I don't care what the game is I know its not going to have the massive subs WoW did just because blizz released it. All the WoWies will hype up the game and think its going to be awesome and will get let down and go back to WoW.
Im a FFXI nut just like all these WoWies and Ive tried many games many times and nothing could recreate that magic. The only thing that can beat FFXI for me is FFXIV and Im not thinking about the game or hyping it. Its best to think of the worst and hope for the best.
So I suggest you all do the same.
But anyways. FFXIV is my game and there is little to know info.. oh yeah and I'll be playing FFXI and Fallen Earth till It comes out.
You should check out Earthrise, unless you don't like futuristic games.

I don't know EVE might be on with champs. FE is cool but its not the game for everyone it will stay low. As for WoW I don't know how much more gear grinding people can take. They need to do something drastic to keep all those subs. My cousin joined me in FFXI cuz he just got so damn bored of the game. I don't blame him I got bored before lvl 50.
So you kept out Guild Wars 2, a game that will have no sub, guaranteeing it success; and Blizzard's new MMO(which SHOULD be out in five years), made by a company with a reputation built not just by WoW, but the Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft franchises. You might have heard of those somewhere.
Either of those could replace most of the choices on your pole. To keep the heavy hitters out makes for a crap survey.
Well, I'll have to disagree with this. Although, generally we're disappointed when an MMO sequel comes out. Generally, it's hard to live up to the legacy that you've created. However, when it comes to Blizzard, they have continually delivered a top notch product. I think very few people are worried about the quality of Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3. I think when there finally is a WoW 2, it's going to be phenomenal. With that said, I do not see a sequel in the near future. Blizzard has a good thing going and continues to deliver top notch expansion packs. Right now, it's working for them.
I am interested to see what happens with Star Wars. Done right, it's an incredible franchise with a ton of potential. If anyone can do it, I'm fairly confident that Bioware will deliver! It'll be fun to see. I'm still waiting for Matrix Online. Okay, just kidding. I know. It's not even funny.
